The India-made Toyota Starlet (sold as the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza in India) was re-tested by Global NCAP, since it has been updated with 6 airbags as standard. It has now secured a 4-star rating.

The earlier version only had 2 airbags, and it got a 0-star rating. After the update, Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) secured 27.97/34, giving it 4 stars. Child Occupant Protection (COP) stood at 29.33/49, resulting in 3 stars.

While the Starlet received this crucial upgrade, Toyota did not voluntarily send a unit, and Global NCAP independently tested it. However, bodyshell integrity has still been rated as unstable.
