Graduation! Graduation! 🎓😀

I am deeply overwhelmed by the past three days, which is why this post is coming today.

Two years ago, I travelled all the way from Nigeria to the United Kingdom on a full-ride scholarship to do my master's in Economics.

Today, that journey has officially come to an end. I didn't only receive a master's degree from SOAS University of London, a prestigious university, but I also graduated with a distinction.

I have a lot to say, but I'm overwhelmed by how to piece my words together.

The mercy of God brought me to this point in my life, as, in my nuclear family, I am:

-The first to own a smartphone
-The first to graduate with a BSc
-The first to win awards
-The first to win scholarships
-The first to win grants
-The first to board a flight
-The first to travel abroad (8 countries)
-The first to own a laptop
-The first to study abroad
-The first to graduate with distinction

The list is just a lot.

All I can say is THANK YOU, JESUS.

One piece of advice I would give to the younger generation is that it pays to serve God.

Those days, I remember holding several roles in the church for so many years:

-Parish Block Rosary Crusade President
-Diocesan Block Rosary Crusade Treasurer
-Altar Girls President
-Holy Childhood Animator
-CYON Financial Secretary
-Mary League Girls Association Financial Secretary
-Miss CYON
-CYON Director of Religious Affairs
-Lector (both in Nigeria and in London)
-Secret Box Collection Holder
-JDPC Member
-Family and Human Life Unit Member
-Legion of Mary Member
-Sacred Heart of Jesus Society Member
-Synacle Member

And a lot more.

Those days, it was either I was in the church, at the Block Rosary Centre, at work, or in school. That's how my life revolved. Some people thought I lived in the church.

I ran errands, washed my priests' cars, toilets, and clothes, ironed the clothes, picked up trash and litter in the church.

I did some of these when I barely had food to eat. I handled all those church finances without taking a dime, despite the hunger and starvation I was going through then.

Each time I decorated the altar, I told Jesus to decorate my life just as I was doing to His altar. I told Jesus to bless me and my family to the point that the world would look at us and call us BLESSED. That everyone would reference us whenever a discussion arises concerning the blessing of God.

Today, my life is a testimony.

Jesus heard and answered all my prayers.

Jesus picked me from my low state and made me a custodian of His gifts, using me to touch and change lives.

I am nothing without Jesus, and I am that girl whom the Lord has blessed.
