Gold recovery from IC Chips is not easy, there are many complications that you should know, this is based on my experience, I also wasted ic chips before and there was no gold that I got, I thought it was not true that there was gold in the ic chips, but I did not stop studying the possible reasons,
First in the ashing stage,
the carbon must be really white before crushing, because carbon can absorb gold or other metals in solutions,
Second reason,
When you are in the aqua regia stage, the acid mixture must be in the right ratio so that the tiny gold wires can easily dissolve immediately, just about 4 to 6 minutes, decant the solution immediately so that the liquid and solid are separated to prevent the absorption of gold in the carbon.
Third, in the washing stage, hydrochloric acid must be used when washing the ash material to prevent the low acidity of the solution.
The fourth reason, is to add the neutralizing agent either sulfamic or urea ( Note: urea is not recommended, ) add slowly because that is also the reason why no precipitations will occur because the solutions are already contaminated. If there are any precipitations, they will be white at the bottom of your beaker. If that happens to your aqua regia solution, there is no way to recover the desolved gold.
