Good day to you, VGM fans. I come bearing less than desirable news today.

Last night when I went onto my laptop to start uploading some new tracks, I came to the discovery that my external hard drive failed. This hard drive houses the raw video files and my schedule for Sound Test Unlocked. In one hardware failure, I have no access to the majority of the materials that I use for the channel. Luckily, this is a temporary setback as I have enough to keep the channel going but I'm going to need a little extra time to regroup.

With that being said, I am going to step back from uploads for the rest of this week (and possibly longer) while I sort things out and get back to status quo. I'm sorry for this and appreciate all of you sticking around.

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

Welcome officially to Year 10 of Sound Test Unlocked! Never thought I would be saying that when I started this channel, but now that it is a reality it is almost surreal. 3,288 songs (even if a lot of them have been removed/hidden) is a heck of a lot of game music, and I still don't plan on stopping anytime soon! And, as always, I appreciate each and every one of you who come here to share in the joys of VGM. I hope I am doing you all proud with all of these tracks!

I have plans for 2026, but I do not have them ready to go live yet. More details to come as they progress closer to fruition. However, I can say these two things with certainty right now:

1) Track #3300 is coming on January 13th, and I got a good one for ya!
2) More personal milestone, January 10th will be my 40th birthday and marks 37 years of gaming for me. For those of you keeping score at home, this year is also the 40th anniversary of Mario and Zelda!

I'll be back on here soon to share some more of my gaming exploits with you all, and work hard to be more active on here as I have in the past. Until next time, I wish you all the best for 2026!

Well, that lasted a month...

Muso is back and has nixed another one of my Mario vids - this time the Mario 2 Overworld theme - continuing the most aggressive assault on my channel ever. As usual, Nintendo stays quiet and Muso is useless at answering my questions so for the time being I have delisted all of the Mario and Zelda games developed by any Nintendo R&D company. I am taking a gamble and seeing what I can get away with by keeping non-developed Mario & Zelda titles up, as well as some of the other major Nintendo franchises to see what Muso's algorithm targets specifically. I at least have 1 more strike before I have to go back into full panic mode.

Anyone else still having this problem, or is it just me? I thought we were done with this for a while, but apparently it's still going strong...

Ok Gamers, question for you - what are your must-buy games for the rest of the year? As of right now I have 3 - Pokemon Legends Z-A, Kirby Air Riders, and Once Upon a Katamari. There are plenty of other games I can think of that have come out this year that I want to get my hands on, but those are my top 3 right now.

On the now playing front - I'm currently running through Various Daylife. Interesting little game with character development and adventuring. I'm still in the early stages of the game, but I'm interested to see what opens up as I progress further. Once I'm done with that, I'm planning to get back to Cyber Sleuth unless something else comes into my backlog that catches my eye.

Let's hear what you're up to. I like hearing what you are all playing and your opinions on it to give me ideas what to prioritize for my collection. Happy gaming!

Channel News!

After a bit of hesitation and a lot of consideration, I have made all Nintendo uploads viewable again. It doesn't look like VGM uploaders are being taken down or struck recently, so I'm going to see what happens. Rest assured, if the channel does get nuked, I have a backup so start searching up Sound Test Unlocked! to hopefully find me again.

Me again.

Spent the weekend doubling down of Donkey Kong Bananza. Got though the Final Boss and into the postgame. The twist around the end was a fantastic move by Nintendo and I think anyone who is a huge fan of the Donkey Kong series will be super excited to get through the final sequences of the game. This game is highly recommended by me. Once I'm done with Bananza, I will transition back to Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth until Pokemon Z-A comes out.

As for uploads, tonight will see 3 to catch up. Had to be on the phone most of Friday after being sideswiped on the way home (small accident, no injuries, not my fault), and yesterday and today was mostly just decompressing from the chaos of Friday.

Just a heads up as well, I will be going on vacation starting next Thursday. I will try to have all uploads queued up before leaving so no days are missed, but I will also have my computer with me so I can upload if need be.

Give me some updates on what you all are playing right now. You know I'm always interested to hear what you're playing and maybe adding more to my "need to buy/play" list.

Hey all. Just letting you know I'm still here. Started a summer schedule at my job of 10 hours a day, 4 days a week so I'm all thrown off. Gonna take the rest of the week to acclimate, then I'll catch up on uploading. Thank you for being patient with me!

Shoot me a gaming update too if you have one. I'm mostly still playing Mario Kart World and conquering as much of the Free Roam as I can. Donkey Kong Bananza is on preorder and I'm looking forward to that. Non-Nintendo-wise, excited for the new Digimon Story game.

That's all I got for now, time for bed...Play an extra few minutes for me tonight!

Another gaming update!

The Switch 2 is here and Mario Kart World is taking over. Been really enjoying the Knockout Races, but finding the larger number of racers and the slew of new mechanics rough to handle at times. Game is still very fun!

Prior to the Switch launch, I finished off Rift Apart and We Love Katamari Reroll. Not sure where I'm going to go from here with the PS5, but I'm sure I'll figure something out once the Mario Kart hype dies down..unless the Donkey Kong hype ramps up by the time that happens.

Since I'm leveling out my gaming a bit, I'm working to get back on my one video a day schedule. Again, I'm sorry for the sporadic uploading, but I'm always making sure that the number of uploads match the one-a-day mentality. Thanks for sticking with me while I push out of the irregular upload schedule.
