Hello friends! Just a heads up I cannot post this Sunday. Usually I don’t go so long, but we ran into a lead dust issue. So we’re dealing with that 🙃 Here’s the story if anyone cares:

Darin was helping to install our new ac. He had to cut a small section of the wall out to widen the return vent thing inside our dining room and of course there was some of drywall dust. I didn’t think much of it at first bc our home was built in 1982 and they banned lead paint in 1978….

But it just kept nagging at me so I got some lead testers from Home Depot and the dust tested positive for lead. There was also a fine layer of drywall dust all over the dining room….all over my YouTube equipment. Everywhere in the dining room. Thankfully it was only a small section of the wall, and the lead seems to have only spread near where he cut (I tested everything in the room lol).

Obviously, bc it is lead dust, you have to be very careful when cleaning it up and take special precautions - Use a HEPA vac, respirator masks that keep lead dust out, etc.

I called a professional cleaning company that does hazmat cleanup and finally got an estimate back Thursday …it was over $3000. 😱

My husband suggested calling a construction cleanup company today to see if we can get a more affordable amount. I did get a hold of somebody who is lead cleanup certified today and they will be sending me an estimate.

All of that to say, all of my YouTube equipment is in that room and it will need to be cleaned off. Hopefully we can get that company I called today in there this coming week to clean it all.

I suppose we could purchase the masks and do everything ourselves, but it just stresses me out to even be in there breathing. I would rather just pay somebody to do it.
