At Tullson’s Safe Restorations, every project tells a story — and this one was extra special.



We recently had the pleasure of restoring a beautiful antique J. Baum Safe & Lock Co. piece for one of our coolest clients. Crafted in Cincinnati, Ohio during the early 1900s, this durable cast-iron safe represents the trusted craftsmanship of America’s industrial era — built to protect valuables with robust construction and reliable fire protection during a time of rapid growth and opportunity.



What made this restoration truly memorable wasn’t just the meticulous work on the mechanism, finish, and historical details. It was spending a full hour laughing and swapping stories with our client as he shared rich family history tied to this heirloom. Watching his face light up while recounting how this safe guarded generations of memories and treasures made the entire project incredibly rewarding.

At Tullson’s Safe Restorations, we specialize in breathing new life into America’s most iconic industrial treasures — and this one was truly special.



A client recently entrusted us with a 1887 Fairbanks Morse & Co. Model #7 Coffee Grinder — one of the largest and most impressive cast-iron mills ever produced by the legendary Chicago manufacturer. Standing tall with its vibrant original red paint, and robust double-wheel design, this Gilded Age masterpiece was built for high-volume grinding in general stores and frontier grocers across the expanding Midwest and West.



From the ashes of the 1871 Great Fire, Chicago had become the nation’s commercial powerhouse, and Fairbanks Morse & Co. helped fuel that growth with durable, American-made equipment that powered retail commerce before packaged goods took over. Restoring this was a rewarding challenge that showcases the same meticulous craftsmanship and attention to historical detail we bring to every antique safe and vault project.



Today, this 137-year-old grinder stands tall once again, a vivid symbol of industrial optimism and American ingenuity.

Tullson's Hands of Time Safe & Vault Restoration

A rare (and thankfully minor) reminder from the road: even the best-laid plans can hit a bump.



This beautiful vintage Cary safe shifted during transit to Tullson's for restoration. It broke through the pallet and even part of the pallet wall – a scary moment that could have turned serious. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and our team jumped into action immediately.



Chris carefully used the forklift to safely unload and reposition it, getting everything back under control without further damage.



In 15+ years of carefully restoring and shipping irreplaceable safes across the country, this is only the second time we've had a shipment shift like this. Knock on wood – it stays that way.



This is exactly why we insist on proper insurance coverage for every restored safe we ship. Things happen, thankfully this was prior to restoration. Your heirloom deserves protection from start to finish – from expert restoration to secure transport.
