I’m extremely happy about how quickly embark made that change to ranked. It’s not normal for a dev studio to walk back their plan for a season in a single day, but they’ve done it and I couldn’t be happier. Season 9 is looking pretty good now!
I am… not thrilled about the ranked changes in the preview event. Everything else is good, but this change really soured the mood for me. I am going to give embark some time to justify this or walk it back, so I’m going to hold off until tomorrow to post my video. If left as is, it’ll totally mess up both matchmaking and aspirational content in this game. Not a single person asked for this change, and it’ll have a domino effect that will hurt both casuals and ranked players. Very unfortunate.
