Meet my second mom, Ka Wilma Gomez. 💙
She didn’t just look after me—she raised me. From childhood through my teenage years, she became my guide, my strength, and my safe place while I was serving in the church. Under her loving guidance, I learned to play the piano, to lead the choir, and to serve with discipline, faith, and humility. She taught me not just music, but values—how to choose what is right even when it’s hard.
But her love and dedication didn’t stop with me. Ka Wilma raised and formed so many choir members—children, teens, and young servants of the church. To us, she is a hero. She shaped voices, hearts, and lives, and I know I am just one of the many she helped grow. Still, it is my greatest honor and blessing to be one of them.
I wasn’t raised alone. Ate Chuchi, Toytoy, and Archie became my family—my brothers and sister in heart. They walked with me through those years of service and growth. Toytoy, especially, was my protector. Every single time we went to church, he made sure I was safe, watching over me like a true older brother who never failed in his role.
Those years shaped who I am. Even when life led me far from home and I came to the UAE, the lessons she planted—and the family that surrounded me—remained strong in my heart. I continued serving the church, carrying with me the foundation Ka Wilma built: faith, service, discipline, and love.
After more than twenty years, life allowed us to meet again. The moment was overwhelming—memories of a child raised in faith, of a choir nurtured with patience, and of a mother figure who gave so much of herself to so many. I may be just one of the many she raised, but it is truly my pleasure and pride to say: I have a second mom who raised me in the church. 💙
