Currently cruising on the new Viking Vela on our way from Barcelona to Rome!
Today’s stop: Villefranche → Nice → Christmas Markets → ALL the holiday vibes. 🎄✨ Lot's of great food at a French Christmas Market.
And yes… that tiny Viking tender behind us is not our ship—promise the Vela is MUCH bigger. 😆
This is our 4th Viking Ocean cruise, and we’ve been impressed. When it's out of season and in fairness a bit chillier the pricing can be quite good with no crowds. BIG NEWS: Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Details Revealed!
Royal Caribbean just dropped tons of new details about the brand-new Legend of the Seas—and it’s looking incredible. We’re extra excited because we’ll be sailing her on the Fall 2026 repositioning cruise! It’s still the best-priced voyage on the ship right now—not inexpensive, but reasonable for Icon-class scale.
Here’s what to know 👇
🗓 Launches July 2026 in the Western Mediterranean, sailing 7-night itineraries from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia).
🌴 November 2026: Legend crosses the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale for 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean routes—each includes a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
🍽 28 dining venues! Highlights include the immersive Royal Railway – Legend Station, the glamorous Hollywoodland Supper Club, and the new AquaDome Market food hall with five stands plus a smoothie bar.
🎭 Entertainment galore:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical in the Royal Theater 🎩🍫
High divers, aerialists & robots in the AquaTheater 🤖💦
Ice shows at Absolute Zero, the largest ice arena at sea ⛸️
🎢 Thrills onboard: 6 waterslides in Category 6, Crown’s Edge skywalk/zipline, Adrenaline Peak rock wall, Lost Dunes mini golf, 7 pools & 10 whirlpools.
💡 Pro-tip for cruisers: If you want to enjoy Legend but prefer to avoid the highest kid ratio, look at Fall 2026 repositioning or Nov–Dec 2026 and Jan–Feb 2027 departures—skip holiday weeks. Many of those are ~30% below typical Legend fares.
Fun fact: we’re posting this while onboard the Azamara Journey (≈30,000 tons)—next year we’ll be on the Legend of the Seas (≈250,000 tons!)…that’s 220,000 tons more ship! It's kinda crazy to think it is 8x larger.
What do you think of the new Legend? Sounds amazing? Or no chance you'd go on a ship this large 😄
Boarding the Azamara Journey. 10 night Islands of the Mediterranean. Barcelona to Nice. We are stopping at Menorca, Mallorca, Sardinia, Malta, Sicily, Capri, Corsica and Tunisia. We'll share our full review in the channel soon. This is our second time on Journey (last was a Japan Intensive) and 5th time on Azamara but first in a year so we're curious if anything has changed. Have any questions about Azamara? Pros/Cons etc. The internet has been surprisingly great, but yes, the showers are still small.
We'll also give you some insight how we got 6 nights free and some of our strategies to save $$ when you book Azamara in our upcoming review.
