Hello, dear viewers! Historical sewing, Jane Austen, and Geology, oh, my! My channel is primarily related to historical dress and costuming with a focus on the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries (Jane Austen's lifetime) and occasional forays into earlier and later eras. I am a historical costumer, a geologist/gemologist, an amateur Jane Austen scholar, and a gardener, so my videos often combine these interest as I dive deep into my research and try to synthesize what I've learned. My sewing adventures will be part tutorial, part how-I-did-this, part don't-make-these-mistakes, and I'm sure my four cats will make appearances.

I’m working on my US History during the 1890s, and coming up a bit empty on POSITIVE things that happened in the US during that decade. Any ideas other than basketball getting invented?
I’m full up on scary, terrible things 😬 They seem to sell more newspapers and stick in the collective memory more so than good news.

It’s been… an interesting few months. I finally have a new video out after a long hiatus, and more in the works. Thank you to everyone who watches, likes, comments, and subscribes! It all helps with the unexpected expenses I’ve been dealing with lately! Oof, 2022 is trying to beat 2020 and 2021 for craziness! The world news is very alarming, also a breast cancer scare, major plumbing issues at my house (digging to commence Monday), and the need to buy a different car soon. Yeesh. Chill, 2022, chill!

How are you all doing?

I finally have a historical costuming/ history of fashion video coming out, this one as part of the Costube Symposium! I was almost done making this dress when I tripped over three cats on the basement stairs and broke my arm, which has now 90% healed, and I’m so glad to be back at it! I hope you enjoy the video!

One hazard of doing research in bed = waking up with sticky notes on your face. I hope you all are doing well! A delay on a book I requested through Inter-Library Loan and the increase in costuming events now that people are vaccinated (yay!) means my video on Courtship and Marriage in the early nineteenth century will be delayed until next weekend, but it is progressing quite well!

Research inhibitor. Do you have any pets who lay on books or papers as soon as you put them down?

I finally got to wear my Robe a la francaise outside my house! Being vaccinated rocks, and Lindsey Hinderer, the photographer, and Malorie, the hair and makeup artist, were both masked! Is t this behind the scenes photo of Malorie fixing my hair amazing?! They are both so talented!
