I upload spooky videos as well as videos about Thailand, Thai culture, dark tourism, spirituality, and death. If you love spooky, dark, weird, and interesting things from around the world - especially Thailand - you'll enjoy this channel.
My video, "13 of the Scariest Thai Ghosts" will premiere tomorrow (Sunday) at 8pm Thailand time. I'm so happy it's finally coming out. These stills are from different Thai horror films based on the ghosts on my list and are in my video.
I finally finished editing my "13 of the Scariest Thai Ghosts" video. It will premiere this Sunday at 8pm Thailand time. I just posted a snippet of it.
I wrote an article about the last traveling freak show troupe in Thailand. It's reminiscent of freak shows from the early 1900s, but without the human exploitation. spookytourist.substack.com/p/the-last-freak-show-i…
I just posted a short about Si Ouey, the man who was falsely accused of being a cannibal serial killer in Thailand. His mummified body was put on display at the Siriraj Medical Museum for over 60 years. I used to visit him when I lived in Bangkok.
His story is equal parts disturbing and tragic. Imagine being viewed as a monster by an entire country for over six decades without any evidence proving that you actually killed six children, let alone ate their organs?
That time when an ad for a Thai horror movie was on the side of the Sathon Ghost Tower in Bangkok. That tower didn't budge during the recent earthquake. You can learn more about this spooky tower as well as other spooky places in my video, “A Dark Tourist Guide to Bangkok.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94sCF...
A short about the haunted doll craze in Thailand is now up on my channel. Read the full story about the haunted doll craze for free at the The Spooky Tourist: spookytourist.substack.com/p/the-haunted-doll-craz…
The Siriraj Medical Museum in Bangkok used to house the mummified body of Si Ouey, a Chinese immigrant who fled to Thailand in 1946 to avoid being drafted to fight in the Chinese Civil War. While working in Thailand, Si Ouey was accused of killing six children and eating their body parts.
Since his initial arrest, he was given the nickname "Cannibal" in the Thai media and became the most notorious serial killer and boogeyman in the kingdom. Thai children were warned that Si Ouey would eat them if they didn't behave.
People could visit Si Ouey's body at Siriraj along with the mummified bodies of three other convicted murderers. I visited Si Ouey at the museum many times and was fascinated by his story.
After two documentaries came out that questioned the police interrogations and subsequent confessions that did not match up with the evidence, there was a public debate about Si Ouey’s conviction and subsequent mistreatment of his corpse.
In August 2019, Si Ouey’s body, along with the other three mummified bodies, were removed from display. Their bodies were given a proper Buddhist funeral and cremated.
You can read more about Si Ouey's incredible story in my article, “Si Ouey: The Man Who Was Falsely Accused of Being a Cannibal Serial Killer in Thailand.” spookytourist.substack.com/p/the-disturbing-story-…
Tala and Lainey are on the island to strengthen their friendship, but a Jesus lookalike from a tantra cult threatens to ruin everything.
It works as a standalone story, so you don’t need to read chapters 0-2 to understand this one.
I wrote about four amazing Buddhist hell parks in Thailand. spookytourist.substack.com/p/naraka-part-ii-a-budd… Two have very little written about them, so they’re a secret. Shhh! I love Buddhist hells so much and can't wait to revisit some of these sites and see some new ones!
