Colin - "The aim was to fully inhabit every bit of this space. Using my usual technique of close miking my throat, breath, and the instrument, I was simultaneously amplified throughout the main hall and three other chambers of various sizes, capturing the reverb and character of each, while projecting live lighting and video, triggered in real time by my playing, resulting in both this album in its entirety (adding no overdubs or loops/FX) and the concert film as well.”
Recording Engineering by Jonas Verwijnen Mixed by Colin Stetson Album Mastered by Marc-Olivier Germain at Le Labs Mastering
Artwork by Marielle Tepper
Video directed, shot, edited and projection design by Derrick Belcham Additional footage and editing by Jon Durand
Released through Invada Records (excl. N America) and Envision Records (North America).
Uzumaki, based on the iconic manga by Junji Ito, with an original score by Colin premieres on Adult Swim in September. New episodes stream weekly in both Japanese and English.
Colin: “I absolutely adored my time making this music and inhabiting the strange, gorgeous, horrifying, and spectacular spiral world that Ito-Sensei created”
More details about the release of the score will be made available in due course.
One of the first songs I wrote for this record, ‘The Six’ is a vengeful strut. Played on solo bass saxophone, this one’s big and mean with long arms and a toothy grin. Stream the new single here: bfan.link/the-six

Many thanks to Conor Abbott Brown who arranged the score, @RobertAmes who conducted and the @LCOrchestra who performed. We’re in the process of looking at potential other performances of the score in the future
