SORRY ABOUT IMMEDIATELY PRIVATING THAT KH2 EPISODE, there was an error in the edit i did not catch while putting it together. Apparently the first full 20 minutes were a retread of the last episode. No clue how I missed that other than it having been a while since opening the project. I’m gonna fix it right now and re-upload, shouldn’t be too long of a wait. So sorry again 😭 But the new version will have much more progress so! Yippee!
Hi there!! It may sound like I’m making a joke but I’m being so for real: I’m considering making a SnapCube 3 channel. Maybe not by that exact name, I’m not sure. I just realize I really need a place to archive pre-stream chats now that Twitch has thrown a wrench into my previous methods by limiting how many hours of highlights you can save indefinitely. But on top of that I was also thinking it might be nice to have a place where I can post like, longer segments of streams that I think stand well on their own but won’t overshadow the full thing? Like interesting conversations, noteworthy reactions, etc. Longer than clips but shorter than full VODs, like for example the “I think i was made to be 30” chat between Sophie and I from the most recent Half Life episode.
hi there VODheads! just wanted to make a quick check-in post to say that things might continue to be a bit slow here for the next couple of weeks. to cut straight to the chase: we are working on the Kingdom Hearts Real-Time Fandub for the main channel. i've been chipping away at it slowly for a while, but it is finally full-force and thus it's gonna take a lot of my time now until it's complete. i especially recently made the decision to re-record a lot of the gameplay footage previously recorded for the dub for a number of reasons, thus with a recording date swiftly approaching i have a lot of my plate to prepare. apologies for those waiting on a new KH2 episode especially, i promise it's on my mind every day, a lot is just taking precedent right now. anyway, thanks for reading and i hope to see you soon even if the cadence of uploads continues slowly for a bit!
good morning! another quick KH2 let's play update: - there is a new episode coming out today! - we have officially as of last weekend finished recording the playthrough IN ITS ENTIRETY. i, present day penny, have seen the end of the game as well as cleared a ton of post game content. i'm so excited to share my reactions to the rest w yall! - to better facilitate the sheer volume of backlog i have now to release, i am increasing individual episode length targets to around 90 minutes instead of 50. gonna try to keep them under 1:40:00 for the most part as i don't want them to become stream VOD-length and still remain relatively digestible. today's episode will start this trend so let me know any feedback u have about the new length!
hi there hi hello! just a heads up: its been my intention to keep the KH2 episodes close to an every-other-day type cadence while we still have a backlog of footage to work through (and right now there are literally still hours and hours of it) but also this weekend I attended MAGfest and unfortunately got very sick while there, so if there are a couple delays here and there any patience and understanding is soooo very appreciated while i rest up. as you can imagine this will also effect stream return timing, i can still barely talk rn, so very sorry!
hello VODheads! I decided to turn on channel memberships for SnapCube 2! didn't realize they weren't already turned on and kinda just assumed no one was using them cause i didn't have any real perks to go with it LOL.
so to begin with it's not gonna be super extravagant, I'm just gonna be trying to create ONE sub tier at $5 that has parity with what Twitch subs are getting in terms of sub badges and emotes! you can see a preview of those below. unfortunately i have a pretty strict limit on emotes until more members join so currently i can only add 4 of the Essentials.
no pressure to sub if you can't make it work, i can't offer much in the way of exclusive content so consider it HIGHLY optional and really more targeted towards VODheads who would like to support and get a little bit of recognition in return but don't use Twitch enough to justify a Twitch sub. thanks for considering either way! these should hopefully be available pretty soon so keep an eye out if you'd like to join and send some support my way!
hey vodheads! so I know that last week I had said to expect more Slay The Princess on this week's docket, but given how current events have shaken out today i am just genuinely not feeling up for the somewhat dreary vibe, as much as i love the game itself. this is NOT me dropping the plan to stream a Part 2, just saying it may take a little bit longer. gonna pivot to some lighter fare this week and keep the energy steady. mostly for my own sake! i already have a dragon quest 8 vod on the way that was streamed today. thanks for understanding 🙏 and of course as always please take care of yourselves out there, i truly mean that.
this is the kind of thing that i am certain 90% of you will either not notice, not care at all about, or a healthy mix of both, but i DID want to make it known that moving forward i'm gonna be setting max resolutions of my VOD uploads back to 1440p rather than 4K. uploading 4K content so frequently has been a really nice experiment this year! someday i'd like to go back to making that the quality standard for my videos! but in my current environment and with my current setup it's just a TINY bit more trouble than it's worth. if u literally could not give less of a shit then feel free to stop reading here and carry on but if ur a freak like me i'm gonna blabber on a bit more abt my thought process.
so firstly, on YouTube specifically the visual quality of 4K versus 1440p, while noticeably sharper at times (on UI elements especially), is not nearly as vast as it is in the raw video files. this normally would not be enough to make me give up the efforts entirely, as even the small differences are differences that I personally notice and appreciate. HOWEVER, the truth beyond this first point is that both the VOD sizes and frequency that I tend to upload them can both become a bit unwieldy when dealing with full 4K. file sizes become noticeably larger, and most damningly YouTube's processing times become UNBEARABLE with a 4K video that is any longer than 5 hours or so. i can't count the amount of times that i've uploaded a longer VOD on this channel only to have to wait over 2 EXTRA DAYS for the video to process past 360p and become publishable. it's ruined quite a few weeks of regularly paced uploads in the past year, which is frustrating as I really pride myself these days on my ability to get VODs up quickly and in high quality. 1440p isn't completely free of long processing times, but it sure as hell never gave me as much headache as 4K does.
if someday I can move to a place that once again has fiber internet, which is unfortunately not an option at my current apartment, then perhaps upload times will become short enough again to offset the extra processing required. until then, i would much rather just not have to worry about it as much! 1440p is a perfect little sweet spot. it does look immensely better than 1080p in and of itself, and it'll be easier on my hardware as well to produce.
