Call Him Up for Renewal

I’ve always believed that how you start your day matters. For me, that means kicking things off with some good, upbeat gospel music to get my spirit aligned and ready to face whatever’s on the agenda.

For a while now, one of my go-to songs has been All My Trials, sung by Harold Robinson. His version just hits in a special way. Every time I listened, it felt like I was being reminded that I wasn’t alone — that God was right there with me in the middle of whatever I was going through.

But one morning last week, I opened YouTube like I usually do, clicked on the video, and found out that Harold Robinson had passed away.

Whew. That shook me. I sat with that for a moment, then clicked on another version of the song just to process the news. But Harold’s version kept showing up — like it didn’t want to let me go just yet.

That’s when I came across a video from Sylvia Rose Cobb. In it, she spoke about the passing of her son. Now, he wasn’t her biological son, but more like a church son. Still, hearing her talk about him and their connection moved me.

So, me being me, I did what I always do when something stirs my spirit — I went down the rabbit hole. I started researching Sylvia Rose Cobb and found out that she wrote All My Trials. Not only that, but she also wrote Call Him Up, Come On Up a Little Higher, and Restore My Soul.

The deeper I went, the clearer it became: God was using this moment to deliver a message to me about renewal.

Waiting Is Trusting
Isaiah 40:31 says:

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”

And that word “wait” isn’t passive. It’s not about sitting around, twiddling your thumbs, hoping something good will eventually happen. That kind of waiting is active. It’s holding on, leaning in, and continuing to trust when your strength feels like it’s running low.

And let’s be real — sometimes we are straight-up exhausted. Not just physically tired, but soul tired. That’s when the reminder to “renew your strength” hits different.

Divine Confirmations and 222
While I was checking out Sylvia Rose Cobb’s catalog of music, I noticed her office phone number included 222 — a number that’s been following me for years. Every time I see it, I know it’s a divine nudge. For me, it’s confirmation that I’m on the right track — that God sees me, and I’m aligned with where He’s trying to take me.

So when I saw that 222 in her number, along with the titles of her songs like Restore My Soul and Call Him Up, I knew this wasn’t just a coincidence. This was spiritual alignment.

Call Him Up
Sis, you don’t have to keep running on empty. You don’t have to keep pouring when your cup is cracked and dry. Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is pause, breathe, and call Him up.

Literally say:
“God, I need You. Restore my mind. Renew my strength. Remind me who I am.”

Because the same God who gave you the vision will give you the fuel. You just have to call Him up and tell Him what you want.
