In September 2024, I woke up feeling like my life wasn't my own. Past decisions had slowly crept up on me until I could hardly recognize the (toxic) bubble I'd put myself in.

One minute, you're clear on the next steps to launch your freelance medical writing business. The next, you're second guessing yourself.

Then you heard about a health writing course that sounds exactly the same as all the others but you wondered if it would be different this time.

Then you waited weeks for a recruiter to get back to you before realizing you weren't going to get the contract and hadn't accomplished anything else in the meantime.

Then you realized Upwork is super competitive and the only way you can get projects is to undercharge and take on things you don't even like.

Then you heard that a certain type of writing project pays well so you changed your niche to that, which made your profile really confusing but full of keywords.

Then you stopped doing anything for a couple of weeks because you had family visiting and got sick.

Then you went down a rabbit hole on how to build a website and decided to invest thousands of dollars on outsourcing it.

Then you realized you'd still have to write strong marketing copy for your website but, since your niche is changing every 5 mins, you can only write something generic using ChatGPT.

But you didn't get any projects from your website because no-one's looking at it, so you wonder if building it was a waste of money.

Then you saw other writers celebrating how much they earned in 2024 and felt inferior and insecure so hibernated for a couple of weeks.

Then you applied for full-time jobs you don't even want because you're convinced you don't have what it takes to freelance successfully.

But you know you're a smart and capable person who would totally thrive if given a proper roadmap to follow and constructive criticism along the way...

This may be the REAL reason why you're unable to make headway in your freelance writing business:

You've lost trust in yourself.

Yesterday, I had a 90-min coaching call with a student on which we primarily discussed self-trust.

This individual—like many of us—finds themselves surrounded by people who don't understand, respect, or encourage them.

They feel like nothing they do is ever good enough, despite battling with burnout and commitment.

They came onto the call telling me about all of their present circumstances and they're preventing them from making headway in their business.

But the REAL reason, we uncovered, was evidently that they'd lost trust in themselves.

Somewhere along the way, their own voice got mixed in with everyone else's, and their own decision-making abilities were being questioned.

So, we discussed practical ways that this person can re-build trust with themselves in order to feel confident as they launch their writing business.

I also shared many examples from my own life to illustrate how powerful these tools and techniques are, and they thanked me for being so open and honest.

Sometimes, all you need is someone who understands you, cares about you, and has alternative perspectives to share, who's been through similar things and come out the other side.

Once the REAL blocker has been overcome, you can clear the way for progress to be made in your business.
