#Indiana has become a pioneer in allowing #cryptocurrency investments in state-managed retirement plans. Under House Bill 1042, Indiana's public retirement plans must offer at least one cryptocurrency investment option through self-directed brokerage accounts by July 1, 2027.



This legislation applies to several public programs, including the Hoosier START college savings plan and public employee retirement funds. Participants can choose to include cryptocurrency in their retirement accounts, providing them with more financial flexibility as digital assets become a larger part of the economy.



The bill also includes provisions to protect the rights of crypto users, barring public agencies from enforcing rules that ban crypto payments, self-custody, or mining.
