The Whiskey Scene is huge and with the rise of craft beers came the rise of craft whiskies and enthusiasts who are looking to learn more about aqua vitae (The water of life!)

I'm Bill, and The Whiskey Dictionary is a channel of passion and education. I want to teach you about the wide world of whiskey, the history of brands, how to nose (smell), taste, and thoroughly enjoy Bourbon, Scotch, Rye, Irish Whiskey, Japanese Whiskey, Canadian whiskey and everything else those fine distillers can throw at us!

Every whiskey review comes with my personal rating of "Stock it", "Buy It", "Taste It", or "Ignore it".

I post a new video every week and sprinkle in the occasional live stream (Typically on Thursday)

The Whiskey Dictionary

It just occurred to me. This is the first time in YEARS that I haven't been watching my analytics to see how my whiskey of the year did. I mean this in a good way. I don't care.

Every brand is just doing a limited expression. It doesn't matter. I only ever cared about what a person could buy. Not what their "master distiller" could make. I feel like whiskey has lost it's heart. I picked the right time to retire. Whisk(e)y is just whisk(e)y... some are good, some are bad. The best are a miniscule amount better than others and it entirely depends on your mood at the time, or which pour of the night it is.

Whisk(e)y has lost it's way.

But I have hope. I think the best whiskey in the world hasn't been made yet. I think that proper care, love, age, and composition will be what does it.

I think the whisky world is in good hands but I think it's not the hands that held it, I think it's the hands that WILL hold it.

I think the best is yet to come, and we don't know what that is yet.
