Chloé and sometimes Ludvig

Hej hej from the rails! I’m Chloé — a Kiwi travel creator exploring the world one awkward train moment at a time. My husband Ludvig (dry humour, Swedish passport) joins when he can.

Together, we seek out the quirkiest journeys, comfiest cabins, and always squeeze in a touch of luxury when we can (okay, that part’s mostly my idea 😅). We’re all about making travel fun, relatable, and a little bit weird — with a side of scenic magic. 💛

From epic train rides and cruises to offbeat road trips and all sorts of unexpected detours in between, we love showing you what it’s really like to explore the world — the good, the awkward, and the occasionally sleep-deprived. Whether it’s a luxury rail journey, a ferry to somewhere random, or a rental car adventure through tiny towns, we’re here for the ride.

While we’re waiting for the final Luxury Trains Around the World episode (Canyon Spirit 👀🚆 — not far away now!) I’ve been thinking ahead…

I’m still honestly amazed at how much you loved The Three of Us series last year 🥹
Would you like me to do another one with my parents?

(Yes, I’m very organised and already planning years ahead… blame living in New Zealand 😅)

If YES — where should we go? Let us know in the comments below 👇

🚆✨ IT’S LIVE ✨🚆

The Luxury Trains Around the World – Season One feature film is officially up on YouTube.

This one’s a little different to the individual episodes — it’s a big, fun, cinematic compilation that ties the whole season together: Vietnam, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S… all in one place.

Think: favourite moments, beautiful rail journeys, lots of laughs, lots of food, and a gentle reminder that trains are way more than just a way to get from A to B.

If you’ve watched the series already, this is a cosy way to relive it.
If you’re new — welcome aboard 🚆💛

Episode 5 (Canyon Spirit) coming soon 👀

🚆 A little series update…

We’re still waiting on final approvals for Episode 5 of Luxury Trains Around the World (our brand-new Canyon Spirit journey through the American Southwest 🇺🇸🏜️).

Because it’s a hosted episode, it has to go through a few final checks before we can post — and it’s taking a little longer than expected (the joys of brand life 😅).

Rather than leave a big gap in the series, we’re posting something special in the meantime over the next few days...

🎬 A full Season One feature film
A big, cosy, cinematic compilation of all the trains we’ve taken so far — Vietnam, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand — plus a little sneak peek of what’s coming next.

Think of it as:
a comfy “sit back and binge” episode while we wait for the finale to be ready.

The Canyon Spirit episode will still be coming as soon as it’s approved — this just keeps the Luxury Trains journey rolling in the meantime 🚆💛

Thank you so much for being patient with us — and for being the kind of audience that actually cares about slow, beautiful, weird little train adventures.

Thanks guys!

✨ Happy New Year! ✨

We’ve had lots of new subscribers join us lately — so hello, welcome, and consider yourselves new travel friends 🧡
We thought it might be a nice time to get to know each other a little better.

A few things about me (Chloé)

• I’m from New Zealand 🇳🇿 — but because I’ve lived in France, Sweden, America, Canada, and England (and travelled all over in between), my accent is… a little all over the place. I’ve noticed the longer I’m back living in NZ, the more Kiwi I’m starting to sound again
• I’m actually quite socially anxious — solo travel is how I work through it
• I’ve always loved performing arts (acting, singing, dancing), so being on camera feels very natural to me
• I’m very much the planner in this relationship 😅
• I love structure, research, and mapping things out — I really don’t like the unknown
• I’ve always loved the getting there part — flights, trains, movement — sometimes even more than the destination itself
• I don’t really have a single “dream destination” — my list would be far too long
• As for a dream train… obviously the Orient Express… or Rovos Rail… or the Royal Scotsman… or the Britannic Explorer… or the Maharajas’ Express… and this is exactly why I don’t try to pick just one 🙃

A few things about Ludvig (aka “sometimes Ludvig”)

• He’s Swedish 🇸🇪 (but sounds kind of North American because he lived in Canada for a while)
• He loves metal music 🤘
• Being on camera didn’t come naturally — it took him a long time to warm up, and he’s still not totally comfortable (but he’s getting there). That’s actually one of the reasons this channel is called Chloé and Sometimes Ludvig
• He’s weirdly good at things like mini golf, darts, axe throwing… basically any random activity — he almost always wins
• His dream destination is Antarctica… or possibly space 🚀
• He’s a roofer by trade and genuinely loves his day job
• He’s going to be a bit more flexible with his work hours this year, so you might see him pop up a little more often (yay!)
• He’s just as deadpan at home as he is on screen — and somehow makes me laugh every single day

A little about us (together)

• We got married almost two years ago, but we’ve been together for around eight
• We met while working at a ski resort in Canada ❄️
• We don’t really chase ticking off as many countries as possible. Instead, we love finding curated, epic journeys and meaningful experiences
• We’re very happy going back to the same country again and again if there’s more to explore — and we think that’s totally okay
• We live in New Zealand now — and we absolutely love it. It really feels like our forever place
• Ludvig is the cook, I’m the cleaner — this system works very well 😅
• We have two cats, Maja and Findus 🐾
• We genuinely love being home in between trips. Travelling so intensely has actually made home feel even more special and grounding when we’re back

How this all started

I’ve been travelling since I was about 20 — backpacking, doing seasonal jobs, moving around, figuring things out — and for a long time I was trying to work out how to make that way of life sustainable. I knew travel was what I loved most, and I wanted to find a way to keep doing it long-term.

Around that time, I started watching creators like Kara and Nate, doing their thing, telling stories, and building a life around travel — and I remember thinking, hey… I could do this too.

A little about our video style

Our videos aren’t really meant to be reviews or traditional travel vlogs. We want them to feel more like a story or film — something cosy, immersive, and slow that you can tuck into… and maybe come away thinking, “I’d love to experience something like that too.”

Somehow, without really planning it, we’ve fallen into movement-based journeys — trains, boats, long routes, the in-between moments. I’ve always loved the journey itself, and that feeling has naturally become the heart of this channel.

I’m also, genuinely, a very optimistic person. I look for the good in things, and it’s actually quite rare for me to critique something unless I truly notice it — and if I do, I’ll say it. That positivity you see is very real and very me.

There are already so many amazing destination-based channels on YouTube — you don’t really need more of those. What we love most is movement, stories, and the feeling that sometimes the journey itself is everything you need.

It’s really nice getting to know each other a little more 🧡
If you’d like to go a bit deeper, we also have a Patreon where we’ll be sharing lots of behind-the-scenes and extra content in 2026.

🚂🏔️ Okay… I think this might be the most scenic train journey of my LIFE.
Not even kidding rn.

SURPRISE!!!! This is the finale of Luxury Trains Around the World, and we travelled on the brand new Canyon Spirit route from Denver to Salt Lake City — and I genuinely spent most of the journey staring out the window in silence like 😶➡️🥲

Huge canyons, snowy mountains, unreal views, beautiful food, and that slow, calm train rhythm that makes time feel… different. It felt big, peaceful, and honestly a little emotional. And also slightly shocked that this is my real life job.

🎥 The full episode goes live soon!
Hosted by Canyon Spirit Railway

Would you do a train journey like this… or would you get emotional halfway through like me?

🥳🎉 Happy New Year from the very bottom of New Zealand 🥳🎉

We started the year walking along a beach at sunrise, right at the very very bottom of the country 🌅
(With a few very grumpy sea lions 😂)

We’re right in the middle of filming some properly epic adventures for you for the year ahead, and we’re so excited for what’s coming. New journeys, new series, and lots of those slow, scenic, “how is this even real?” moments we love sharing with you.

How are you spending New Year’s?
Are you:
❄️ in the snow
🏝️ somewhere tropical
🌊 walking on a beach (with or without sea lions)
🎉 or just chilling at home with snacks?

Tell us where you are and how you’re welcoming the new year — we’d love to hear 💛

Here’s to a year of adventure, cosy moments, and taking the scenic route!
Happy New Year!

🎬 NEW EPISODE IS LIVE 🚆

Episode 4 of Luxury Trains Around the World – Season 1 is officially out 💛

This one takes us across New Zealand by train — Wellington to Auckland — with barista-made flat whites, hot towels, viaduct squeals, a volcano reveal, and a very special Scenic Plus surprise for my mum and aunties.

After travelling on luxury trains all around the world, coming home and sharing this journey with family ended up being one of the most meaningful episodes of the entire season. It’s not the flashiest train we’ve ridden… but it might just be the one that made me feel the proudest to be a Kiwi 🇳🇿

And if you’re new around here, this is part of a full cinematic series:
🇻🇳 Vietnam
🇬🇧 Britain
🇦🇺 Australia
🇳🇿 New Zealand (this one!)
🇺🇸 Finale coming very soon 👀

As always — thank you for watching, commenting, and letting us tell these slow, scenic stories. It means more than you know 💛🚂

🚆🌿 Episode 4 of Luxury Trains Around the World is coming up next.

This journey takes us onboard the Northern Explorer, travelling through the very heart of my own back yard, New Zealand — past rivers, mountains, farmland, and long quiet stretches where the scenery does all the talking.

We’re also joined by a very familiar face (Mummy is back 💛), plus two new faces you haven’t met before — my aunties. Sharing this calm, scenic journey together made it feel extra special.

🎬 The Northern Explorer episode goes live on December 28.
Have you done this journey before — or would you like to?
