What’s Your Film Networking Personality? 🎥
Networking is everything in the film industry — but not everyone does it the same way.
👉 Are you the Wallflower hiding in the corner?
👉 The Storyteller who always has a wild set story?
👉 Or the Social Butterfly everyone wants to know?
I built a free Film Networking Personality Quiz to help you figure out your natural networking style, your strengths, your blind spots, and how you can make stronger industry connections.
Take the quiz here:
beyond-film-school.involve.me/film-networking-pers…
✨ What you’ll get:
Your networking persona (with pros + cons)
A custom tip to level up your connections
Clarity on how to approach your next event with confidence
Networking doesn’t have to feel awkward — once you know your style, you’ll know exactly how to use it to get more film opportunities.

Weekly reminders to increase your chances of getting hired.
The Constant reminders that need to be said:
📄 1. Your Resume = Your Weapon
Make sure it's updated and easy to send fast! Or make sure it's in a place to edit easily when you do have to make changes.
🫶 2. Connect Deeper
Check in with friends or folks you’ve enjoyed working with.
A simple “Hey, just checking in!” can go a long way in this industry.
🤝 3. Help Someone Else
Offer value before you ask for anything.
Recommend someone for a gig, share a resource, or give a shoutout!
Always find a way to help someone else out.
⚡️This Week's Reminder ⚡️
🙏 Be Someone They Want Around Again
This to some people can be a no-brainer, but tons of people miss the mark!
Are you the complainer on set?
Are you the one with the bad attitude?
Are you the difficult person?
Are you the one that is all about the gossip?
Are you late on set?
Are you making excuses, and blaming others?
All these things are things that will keep people away from you. Don't be the person that people stay away from.
Be the person they know can get things done, stay positive, and offer solutions when problems come up.
That's who I hire. If you make my day harder I won't bring you back.

⚡️This Week's Reminder ⚡️
📣 Let People Know You’re Available
It's your job to make sure people remember you - and for good things! But it's also your job to make sure you stay in their minds for when opportunities arise. Just don't border on annoying them. I say once a month or every few months to re-connect and give a reminder. If they say they're not on a job and you're constantly asking about a job or that you're available it just makes it worse on them because it's a reminder they don't have a gig.
When you left my Set PA training I told you to text me your availability or when your in NYC, or if you're in a certain part of the country I might be shooting in. If you don't I wont be chasing you down. I hire the people that stay at the front of my mind.
People in the industry can't possibly remember everyone they meet and like. Myself included. It's your job to remind them, especially if they expressed they enjoyed working with you.
So many new folks to film are just afraid to reach out - why? Anxiety gets the best of everyone sometimes.
Don't let the fear of the unknown control you.
You wont die if you reach out and text or email someone you're available or in a certain region.

"Film Festival 101": July 13, 2025
Sunday @4p-530p
Debbie Higgins has created 16 films, including the award-winning "Snake Hill", which aired on PBS and received recognition at major festivals. She is also a director and moderator of three film festivals, including the internationally recognized Jersey Shore Film Festival and two celebrated horror genre events.
Joe Delorio is a filmmaker, award-winning short film creator, and co-host of The Reel Watchlist+, a classic movie review show (def check out their show!) known for its bold mix of sharp critique with a playful sense of humor, themed costumes, and his "Cinema Sips" custom-cocktail pairings. Joe brings both technical skill and creative vision to the screen. With experience producing and judging film festivals, Joe has a hands-on understanding of what makes cinema resonate.
And outside of all their amazing experience they're really just all around fun people to talk to and learn from. You won't be bored with this seminar in the least bit!
And did I mention this is free?!

Be the Connector, Even If You’re New
Everyone who just starts out often has the thinking: "I can't offer anything to help anyone else. Im not hiring"
This isn't true.
There will be many times you can recommend a fellow PA/Alumni/New person to film when the chance arrises when you cant do a gig.
Or you may have access to business that would like to be a location for a film.
Maybe you know someone throwing a networking event or you know of a new film fest looking for film. Theres so many different ways to do this!
Everyone knows people and has resources that they can offer.
For me once I figured out that I was able to recommend my peers it was the best feeling when they were hired and they killed it.

😌Do not Worry!☺️
Now, this is so hard to do.
Worry is all about trying to figure out the uncertain future and usually what can go wrong, what you don't get, or something not going the way you want.
Worry is often about the "what if's"
If you get more comfortable with uncertainty you stress a whole lot less.
Worry often leads to fear - but not "real" fear. Fear is connected to certain potential death. Not getting a certain gig at a certain time will not cause death.
The anxiety you build up about about worrying what you do and don't get when it comes to your film career can cause you to get some panic attacks - so, don't do that to your self.
It's going to be alright.
You will get the gigs you want - maybe not in the timeline you want, but it's usually for a reason.
So - take it easy on yourself, be kind, focus on things you love to do, and try to do something for someone else. Good things will come.
