Beautiful Jazz In The Night

We have officially updated our 24/7 continuous live broadcast.

The shorter 45-minute session has been retired to make room for the full 3-hour journey through 1950s Seattle. You can now listen to the rain-slicked pavement of Jackson Street, the Pacific Northwest fog, and slow-tempo piano trio jazz as a permanent part of the live rotation.

The stream is running continuously on our main channel page. Settle in, find a quiet corner, and join the broadcast tonight.

Beautiful Jazz In The Night

Welcome to the new continuous late-night jazz radio stream. Step into the warm glow of the mid-century.

We have launched a 24/7 rotating journey through our complete library of 1940s and 1950s jazz. The stream constantly shifts through the world's great jazz cities—from the smoky basement clubs of Chicago and Harlem, to the humid warmth of Bourbon Street, the slow blues of the Rust Belt, and the quiet dawn over the Seine.

It is designed to run in the background for late-night lounging, deep work, reading, or falling asleep. Leave it on, let the music play, and let the city slow down.

What time is it where you are tuning in, and what is the weather like right now? Let me know in the comments.

New 3-hour sessions will continue dropping every few days.

Beautiful Jazz In The Night

New long-form is up — The Reno Club, Last Call. Three hours.

A long evening on 12th & Vine, told from the angle of the era's quiet close. Kansas City after Pendergast, after the wide-open all-night town — when the rooms had thinned to a handful of holdouts and the music had gone blues-deep. Count Basie's old KC sound, Mary Lou Williams and Jay McShann at the piano, Buck Clayton on muted trumpet, brushes and walking bass. Slow, late, played for itself.

Best heard on the second cup of coffee, the hour you keep just for yourself, or a slow drift toward sleep.

A new long-form every few days. The next one — Paradise Valley After Dark, the Detroit set — drops Wednesday.

New long-form is up — Cool Light on the Pacific. Three hours.

A drift down the California coast at the Lighthouse-Cafe / Pacific-Jazz-Records moment of the 1950s. Mulligan-Baker pianoless quartets, muted trumpet, brushed drums, the kind of restraint that made cool jazz cool.

Best heard on the drive home, the second cup of coffee, or the hour you keep just for yourself.

A new long-form every few days. The next one — Bourbon Street — drops Wednesday.
