IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION:

I blew it! Let me explain why.

The discussion between John West and Mike Licona on inerrancy turned out longer than I had hoped, so I asked my team to trim only the beginning of both sides and start right where the dialogue on the issue at hand begins. Inadvertently, it cut out some of John's framing of this issue and also how Mike discussed the strained harmonization of Lindsell who suggests 6 denials of Jesus. John referred to this later, but since that part was cut, his point was misunderstood.

Also, John went out of his way to indicate that he does not think Mike's position is as concerning as, for example, Francis Collins. As indicated in this dialogue, John does have considerable concerns, but he went out of his way to refer to Mike as a brother and to say that he doesn't consider his position as concerning. Sorry, John, that should not have been cut.

This one is my bad. I will totally own it. I was hoping to bring people right into the dialogue, but ended up chopping important context. I truly aim to be fair in these dialogues, but dropped the ball on this one. It won't happen again!

Devastating News

I woke up this morning and saw the news regarding the accusations of sexual assault against former Newsboys lead singer Michael Tait. The only word I can use to describe it is DEVASTATING. It is devastating for the victims. Devastating for the Newsboys. Devastating for the body of Christ.

Given the extent of the accusations going back to 2004, out of solidarity with the victims, and because Tait has admitted to the band that he has been living a double life, I decided to take my YouTube interview with him and Jeff Frankenstein down immediately. The focus of the interview was on faithfulness and deconstruction in the contemporary Christian music scene, so given the recent news, it doesn't seem right to keep it up.

Taking an Interview Down:

Nearly two years ago, I interviewed Dr. Michael Brown on the topic of angels. His answers were interesting, biblically-based, and helpful.

Yet, an independent and in-depth report recently concluded that he engaged in behavior that was “inappropriate and unacceptable” for his leadership position and that this involved, “sexually abusive misconduct.” Dr. Brown’s Elder Accountability Team has concluded that these allegations are all in the past and that he can be reinstated into ministry, but because they did not include a trauma-informed counselor, and because of serious questions about the inaccuracy of the elder report, I have decided to take my interview with Dr. Brown down from my YouTube channel.

You can certainly read the reports yourself (which I would encourage) and come to your own conclusions. I don’t make decisions such as these lightly, but because the interview was public, and because these are on-going public conversations related to the integrity of Christian witness, it is important to state the reasons why publicly.
