Volt Age Electronic Musical Instruments
Vaemi, which is an institution that develops electronic musical instruments and synthesizers, came into life in Istanbul in 2020. Founded by the brothers Efe Çakır and Tunç Çakır, Vaemi aims to produce studio-quality analog devices, vacuum tube instruments and effects, logic synthesizers, small lo-fi synthesizers and utility circuits. We make our own designes, and we are working on developing a new system. While doing that, we also endeavour to revive the the instruments and circuits which are adored, and which have stayed hidden in progress from the past to the present day. In this ever-growing electronic equipment industry, we prefer through hole (DIP) technology over surface-mount technology for reasons such as its sound quality and longevity. We have our sights trained on transmitting our high quality and handmaid instruments, produced with well-selected components, to Turkey and every other country in the world for a reasonable price.

From Light to MIDI with Synterra
In this video, I’m using Synterra through its light sensor. By detecting changes in ambient light, it generates a generative melody in the Hijaz scale.
I’m sending the data generated by Synterra to the computer as MIDI over USB. Here, I’m using not only the MIDI notes, but also the MIDI CC data it generates at the same time.
The MIDI data is routed simultaneously to two different plug-ins: an FM-based synthesizer and a resonator. Some of the MIDI CC data coming from Synterra is assigned to the level parameters of the operators inside the FM synthesizer. This means Synterra is controlling not only which notes are played, but also the structure and movement of the sound itself in real time.
Also, I’m not using all of the CC data Synterra is sending in this video; the system is capable of generating even more control data at the same time.
When MIDI Clock is used, Synterra’s tempo-based effects can also be synchronized easily with the computer-based system.

Our first free plug-in, VAEMI R2R Ladder, has been available for free through the VCV Rack Library since September 16.
We would like to thank VCV Rack and Andrew Belt for their support throughout the release process.
We would be very happy to see you download, explore, and use R2R Ladder in your music. All documentation, technical information, and usage details are available through VCV Rack.
Alongside our analog electronic music instruments and hardware designs, we would also like to announce that VAEMI will be expanding further into software and digital music technologies in the coming period.
Very soon, we will also be introducing a dedicated Plug-ins / Software section on our website, where R2R Ladder and our upcoming software projects will be available.
