We're saddened to hear that Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80.
On Broadway, Dolly wrote the music and lyrics for 9 TO 5, for which she received a Tony Award nomination. A new musical about her life is scheduled to open on Broadway this spring.

Composer and lyricist Jerry Herman was born 95 years ago on July 10th! Not long after he made his Broadway debut with FROM A TO Z, Jerry Herman became an international success when HELLO, DOLLY! opened in 1964, earning Herman his first Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Composer and Lyricist. His next full musical, MAME, would earn him two more nominations. Through the 1960s and 70s, he would go on to write DEAR WORLD, MACK AND MABEL, and THE GRAND TOUR, but his next great success came with LA CAGE AUX FOLLES in 1983, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Original Score.
