People who use the term "world peace" are using
the word "peace" wrong.
Peace is not a state of international affairs.
Peace is not about oppositions: the absence of war.
Peace is a mode of conduct.
Peace is a state of mind, not a state of affairs.
Peace is not a policy or reputation
but a behavior beyond morals and manners.
Peace is a surrender
to the sovereignty of our shared silence.
Peace is not something to be maintained.
There are no "Peace Keepers".
Can peace be brought in
or is it already here
and we hide it behind our curtains of chaos and confusion,
our cleverness and avoidance?
Can peace escape our ignorance?
Where is peace
when we are unaware of it?

Some say the Earth game is a testing ground,
a hard round,
and these superficial distractions
are here to hinder our development
and show our character (or lack there of);
...sins rule the world
and men lose their souls
for a bright flash, a bang of lifeless light,
then remain in darkness with no true joy
just a little time in man land playing with shiny toys.

As long as I have dirt and earth,
as long as I have hills to hike,
woods and wilderness
and a willingness to walk,
thoughts and food to eat,
I'll be happy.

As long as I can read books and write,
I have my work and I'll enjoy it.

I don't need to sail the seven seas.
I don't need ballrooms and cannon balls.
Just a ballpoint pen
and some clean paper.
And I'll make my mark.

No chance of chagrin,
just salt and sand.
To flow through it.
To float through life in a blood balloon body
sucking in helium to sound silly.
The geese get me.
The oily ducks with waterless backs swim by me uninsulted and insultless.
Splash and quack.
Fish on the fringes, deep by, bypass us.

Storybook life.
To live is to read but to write is to die.
Immortal authors without authority auction off chapters of ages not yet lived in our lifetime.
To write is to live but to read is to die.
Dead poet priests praise an afterlife unattained.
An anthology of anatomy actualizing.
Beings becoming.
Full range of motion is still moving.
Stairs are climbing ladders to the top hat plateau of spiritual sophistication where a string hangs down that we're too heavy to climb.
Ingenuity redesigned.

"The Reader"

I'm about to finish another book.
I've only 8 more pages left to read.
I'll slow down to savor it for
I feel sad when I'm about to finish a book.
It feels as if someone is dying in my hands
and all I can do is watch.

For life to go on,
I must read another book
to live again.
