We all dream of flying to America one day to see the world famous Niagara Falls with our own eyes. But did you know that we have our very own mini “Niagara Falls” right here in our own backyard? Also known as Ampang Pecah or Alor Lempah, this majestic waterfall is located along the Selangor River in Kuala Kubu Bharu, just under a two hour drive from Kuala Lumpur. The waterfall is actually a man-made weir, used for purposes of flood mitigation and spans across the width of the river. It’s especially impressive if it rained the night before, when the water volume is high. Due to its recent popularity, the best spots are taken up fairly quickly, especially during weekends. It’s advisable to head over here as early in the morning as possible if you want the best spots to yourself.

Taman Saujana Hijau is located in Presint 11, comprising a hilly area that's been landscaped beautifully. Entrance to the park is free and you're bound to be blown away by what you find at this public garden that stretches out over 47 hectares of land. With pine trees, rolling hills, wooden fencing and exotic flowers, this garden is famous for recreational use like jogging as well as leisurely outings like picnics or wedding photoshoots. There's a 2.8km jogging track that stretches throughout the park, with plenty of smaller pathways and sections that branch off for you to explore. As the area is very hilly, you'll want to wear comfortable shoes to walk around! The garden is sectioned into themed gardens, namely a European Garden, a Chinese-style Garden and an English Garden. The thought and care that went into picking the plants and trees for the park really shows, as you'll see things that are not usually common sights in our parts of the world, such as sunflowers, lovely English-style flower beds and creeper plants, and juniper trees. It gives the look of being in a highland retreat (even though in reality it's still regular Malaysian weather, so do come early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the heat! ?). Parking is free, with the park open from 7am to 7pm daily. For those heading to there for a picnic, you can opt for one of the gazebos that lie around the park, but for the maximum aesthetic and picnic feels, bring a picnic blanket and lay it out in one of the open areas of your choosing - many people like setting up in the English Garden given it has some of the prettiest spots ? Bring some yummy finger food and cold drinks and you'll be all set.

Taman Saujana Hijau dikelilingi oleh tumbuhan gymnosperma seperti pokok pine, juniperus, thuja dan banyak lagi. Tumbuhan gymnosperma dikenali juga oleh sebilangan saintis sebagai fosil hidup kerana ia telah wujud sejak zaman Devon (410-360 juta tahun lalu) sebelum era dinosaur.

Terdapat tumbuhan sikas asli dari Queensland, Australia iaitu Black Boy (Macrozamia moorei) yang memiliki mahkota seperti pohon kurma dan batang besar berwarna hitam bercorak seperti sarang lebah.

Terdapat 3 bustan (taman) yang berbeza dibina pada setiap bahagian / bukit yang ada di taman ini iaitu Bustan Inggeris, Bustan Oriental dan Bustan Eropah. Ketiga-tiga bustan ini terdapat wakaf yang dibina bercirikan setiap bustan iaitu rekabentuk Inggeris, China, dan Eropah.

Often hailed as Selangor’s most beautiful waterfall, the Chiling Waterfalls and Santuari Ikan Sungai Chiling (Mahseer Fish Sanctuary) are located just over an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur. Together with Gabai Waterfalls, the Chiling falls are situated within Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor (Selangor State Park). An enjoyable jungle trek takes visitors across streams and rivers, passing exotic plants like wild orchids and bamboo, before reaching the signature 80-meter waterfall overlooking a calm lagoon. The waterfalls and river are also the site of the Mahseer Fish Sanctuary managed by the Selangor Fisheries Department and Selangor Forestry Department. The main aim of the sanctuary is to provide a safe haven for mahseer fish. Today, the area has become an important habitat and natural breeding grounds for the fish who roam the creeks along the river to the main waterfall area.

Pantai Cunang is a beautiful white sandy beach maintained by Mah Meri orang asli villagers amid a mangrove forest near Tanjung Sepat. The sand really is white, at least the part above the water line. Where the sand meets the sea, it turns into the more familiar muddy brown colour which is typical of the beaches along this part of the Selangor coastline.The beach is kept spotlessly clean but it is a tough job as the sea disgorges a fresh load of plastic waste every high tide.The stumps of mangrove trees can be seen on the beach while a dense grove of casuarina pine trees provides good shading for beach-goers.It was quite easy to find. Just before reaching Tanjung Sepat on Highway 5 coming from the Morib direction, there is a signpost pointing to the beach right next to the Orang Asli village entrance. The narrow road, called Jalan Pantai, takes you through the palm oil plantation down to the beach where there is a small parking area, next to the toilets.

Pantai Cunang Kampung Orang Asli Tanjung Sepat merupakan sebuah lokasi rekreasi yang diusahakan oleh Orang Asli suku kaum Mah Meri. Pantai ini menjadi salah satu tempat menarik yang harus dikunjungi di kawasan Daerah Kuala Langat kerana ia menyediakan pelbagai kemudahan terutamanya mempamerkan hasil kraftangan yang menggambarkan kreativiti hasil tangan penduduk orang asli. The Kanching Eco Forest Park (Taman Eko Rimba Kanching) is located at Rawang and is about 21 km away from Kuala Lumpur. If you are looking for a few hours off your regular routine, head for this tropical rain forest and spend one to three hours here. This forest is a popular spot for a picnic during the weekends. It has seven waterfalls and pools have been built to contain the clean water that falls down from the hills. Upon entering the park, visitors will be greeted by natural greenery with a beautiful lawn and a gentle stream covered with pebbles where children and adults can have a splashing good time. There are gazebos, stone benches, and a bridge across the stream, making this area a good spot for picnics. Further up this spot is the verdant forest reserve. Before reaching the first waterfall, the stream flows gently, making this area a natural water park for children. The cement steps will lead you to the first waterfall. It is a small waterfall of about 4 to 5 meters high. The water tumbles forcefully and almost vertically into the groove at the base and flows to the right side of the waterfall. The concrete path ends at the fourth level where the trail into the forest begins. Across the bridge, the trail turns uphill to the right side along the stream. After walking for a few minutes, the fifth waterfall will unexpectedly come into view in the woods. Here, water plunges down almost vertically and forcefully, forming a shroud of mist where visitors can take a refreshing shower under it. You can also take a dip in the shallow water or enjoy the scenery and gentle breeze generated by the force of falling water. To reach the sixth tier, you need to follow the trail on the right side of the fifth waterfall. After several minutes, you will reach the base of the sixth waterfall. The waterfall is a steep rocky slope measuring dozens of meters, thus not in full view from the bottom. The journey up the steep slope is a showcase of different facets of the landscape. At the end of this trail is where the seventh waterfall is located. If you keep going up after the seventh trail, you will reach a flat elevation and discover that the water actually comes from two small streams.

Air terjun Kanching ini ada di kawasan Selayang. Jadi untuk orang KL, ini antara air terjun paling dekat yang boleh dilayan. Kat sini air terjunnya 7 tingkat. Dan suasana pun macam hutan sebab ia sebahagian dari Hutan Lipur Kanching. Luas kawasan ini 47 hektar. Kalau anda datang dengan member atau family, dan belum puas mandi, tak apa.
Plan lah untuk berkelah dan atau buat jungle trekking kat sini. Ada ada laluan mendaki dan kawasan untuk family duduk beramai santap ayam bakar panas-panas kat sambil layan sejuk kawasan ini.

Taman Tasik Permaisuri mempunyai keluasan kawasan ialah 49.4 hektar atau 122 ekar. Ia telah dibuka dengan rasminya oleh D.Y.M.M Sultanah Zanariah, D.K Raja Permaisuri Agong ke-8 pada 2 April 1989. Taman tasik seluas 49.4 hektar ini dibangunkan pada tahun 1984 dan terletak di antara Jalan Budiman dan Jalan Tenteram, Cheras iaitu kira-kira 15 km dari pusat bandar.

Ianya terdiri daripada sebuah tasik seluas 14 ekar dengan empat buah pulau-pulau kecil di dalamnya. Kawasan sekitarnya ditanam dengan pokok-pokok rendah dan renek yang bukan sahaja mengindahkan taman ini tetapi juga sebagai tempat untuk berlindung dari terik matahari.

Lokasinya yang berhampiran dengan Kompleks Renang Kuala Lumpur, Stadium Bola Sepak Kuala Lumpur, Kompleks Sukan DBKL, Pusat Belia Antarabangsa, Unit Berkuda DBKL, Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia dan Masjid Bandar Tun Razak telah menjadikannya sebagai tempat tumpuaan yang popular bagi para pengunjung dari dalam dan luar negeri..

Tarikan utama di taman ini adalah Laman Iskandar Puteri yang terletak di sudut seluas 2 hektar. Ia bercirikan Taman Diraja Melayu Tradisi, ditanam dengan bunga-bungaan dan dilengkapi dengan pancutan air berirama dan pancutan air berbentuk sireh junjung. Waktu taman dibuka adalah bermula dari jam 6.00 pagi hingga 8.00 malam setiap hari. Para pengunjung diharap dapat mematuhi Undang-Undang Kecil Taman 2012 untuk memastikan keselesaan semua.

Taman Tasik Permaisuri is a pleasant urban park in the Bandar Tun Razak district of Kuala Lumpur, about 6 km from the city centre. It is managed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

The park covers 40 hectares with a scenic lake at its centre, enlivened by a number of fountains which, amazingly, all seemed to be working when I visited. Parts of the lake are covered with pink lotus flowers and lilies. There are shady picnic spots around the lake with concrete tables and stools provided.

The park is attractively landscaped on naturally hilly terrain. There is a park-within-a-park section with a terraced amphitheatre planted with colourful species. There are four seating gazebos in this area which enjoy a view over the lake. The gates to this section bear the name Taman Puteri Iskandar.

Activities and facilities here include a football pitch, a futsal court, children’s playground, surau and cycle hire (although cycling is not permitted in some parts of the park). Jogging/walking trails extend into the more jungly southern section of the park which has been left in a raw, natural state.

Sungai Tua Eco Forest Park (Taman Eko Rimba Sungai Tua) is a popular recreational forest within the Selangor State Park located about 10km from Bandar Baru Selayang. Located in Hulu Gombak Forest which is a Dipterocarp Hill Forest. Activities and facilities here include camping, picnicking, BBQs and bathing in the clear cool water of natural river pools and rapids amid mature rainforest. The park is popular with locals, especially at weekends. It is managed by the Forestry Department of Selangor.

According to alltrails.com, Sungai Tua Eco Forest Park features rivers, lush forests, and a variety of flora and fauna. This forest is popular with the locals who come to host picnics, bbq, and camp. Visitors should check out the various river pools and ponds for a quick dip! These pools and ponds allow swimming, visitors will be able to see locals lounging on the rocks to relax. Due to the high amounts of water sources in this park, please note that flash flooding may occur. Check out the gazebos or the pavilions for a short break! They are also good places to eat your lunch! Sungai Tua also features a suspension bridge for those who would like to trek across and above the river.

Tucked away in Kepong is a 95-hectare park filled with lush greenery and a huge lake in the middle. While the park has an excellent jogging track and a cycling lane around the lake, the main attraction here is its large open field. Also known as ‘Taman Layang- Layang’, the park plays host to everyone from children to experienced kite enthusiasts looking to fly kites in the evenings. Don’t worry if you don’t have a kite, there are kite sellers dotted around the park offering plenty of options. Parking can be a problem so we recommend coming in the early evening.

Taman Metropolitan Kepong merupakan taman rekreasi terbesar di Kuala Lumpur. Ia terletak di sebelah utara Kuala Lumpur. Keluasan keseluruhan taman ini ialah 218.8 ekar di penuhi dengan landskap menghijau, kelengkapan riadah, istirehat, kawasan lapang dan tasik yang luas.

Antara kemudahan yang disediakan di taman ini adalah seperti Rumah Sampan dan Jeti untuk aktiviti air khususnya bagi penglibatan program badan-badan beruniform seperti Penguatkuasa DBKL, Bomba, Persatuan-persatuan berkaitan untuk membuat latihan kemahiran ketahanan di dalam air seperti ‘boating’, scuba, kayak dan sebagainya. Turut disediakan bilik persalinan dan tandas awam di Rumah Sampan.

Selain itu, sejauh 3.5km laluan siar kaki disediakan bagi kegunaan secara bersama untuk berbasikal, berjogging dan berjalan. Peralatan senam riang pula disediakan untuk pengunjung yang gemar melakukan aktiviti sihat dan bersenam. Setiap peralatan senam riang dilengkapi dengan panduan pengguaan secara khusus seperti senaman untuk bahagian bawah badan, bahagian atas badan, abdomen, kardio dan sebagainya.

Kemudahan peralatan permainan kanak-kanak seperti set permaian integerasi, papan luncur, buaian, jongkang-jongkit, alatan memanjat dan sebagainya disediakan untuk kegunaan kanak-kanak berusia 2 sehingga 12 tahun. Pengunaan alatan permaian oleh kanak-kanak haruslah dibawah pemantauan ibubapa dan penjaga.

Terdapat 3 buah menara tinjau telah dibina di Taman Metropolitan Kepong. Ianya dibina untuk pengunjung menghayati dan meninjau keindahan taman dari paras tinggi. Pengunjung akan dapat melihat secara keseluruhan taman dari atas menara tinjau dan berswa foto dari aras ini.

Terdapat satu kawasan pentas terbuka amphitheatre telah dibina untuk pengunjung melakukan pelbagai aktiviti terbuka khususnya bagi penganjuran program dan persembahan. Disediakan bangku berteres kepada pengunjung agar dapat duduk melihat amphitheatre secara terbuka.

Sebuah padang juga disediakan bagi pengunjung yang berhasrat untuk melakukan sukan bola sepak atau acara sukan lain yang berkaitan. Kawasan padang juga berdekatan dengan kawasan parkir bagi memudahkan pengguna melakukan acara berkaitan.

Waktu taman dibuka adalah bermula dari jam 6.00 pagi hingga 7.00 malam setiap hari. Pengunjung diharap dapat mematuhi Undang-Undang Kecil Taman 2012 untuk memastikan keselesaan semua.
