THIS IS NOT A WORSHIP SONG
(NOTE: Some of my dearest friends and family are therapists... I am not saying therapy is wrong... It only becomes a problem when it applies unbiblical responses that evoke bitterness, broken relationships and dependency on the counselor in a manner that their conversations and influence supercede what Jesus and the Word teaches.)
Over the past several years I've noticed several trends... One has been the increasing weight of having a therapist that is valued by many as necessary as a sibling, parent, child, or family friend.
I recall as a young man headed to the missionfield of Southern California being required to visit a psychologist that would evaluate me to see if I could handle the move and life as a missionary. I remember his name to this date... Dr. Rutherford ... During the session he became insistent that I must be angry with my father for something... after all I was 22 at the time... I wasn't angry with my Dad and at this point in my life, some 40+ years later, my Dad and I enjoy a healthy relationship. He's now 95.
When I went home from that session my Dad asked me, "So, did he tell you that you were angry at me?" I responded, "How did you know?" He said, it's a common thing in counseling to find someone who is the source of our problems. It's an easy way to throw off issues that we don't want to deal with... It's everyone else's fault ... and now, its becoming rampant everywhere as I hear and read about families going through these same kind of struggles.
It's become a social media theme for some and it's devastating many people. It has in fact released EXACTLY what was prophesied by Malachi... If the children are not restored to their parents... It will be a "curse" on the land. It appears that the blight of division in families and between those destined by the Lord to walk through life with, is here, now.
My hope is that this song (initially written as a poem) will encourage many and even bring healing to some relationships that seem to have no hope of recovery.
Malachi 4:5-6
5 “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Each one repeating your refrain.
