Part One – The Sound Begins
The Origins of Truesound
The story of Truesound begins long before the name ever existed - rooted in the quiet passion of a young boy named William who discovered his love for music at just 11 years old.
William's musical journey began with the study of classical piano and music theory through the University of South Africa, laying a strong and structured foundation for what would become a lifelong dedication. His talent and commitment were soon recognized when he was accepted into the renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir (DBC), where his musical abilities shone so brightly that he was promoted a grade ahead of his peers - a rare and meaningful acknowledgment of his gift.
After his time at DBC, William's appetite for music only grew stronger. Driven by pure passion and an insatiable curiosity, he taught himself to play a range of instruments: guitar, drums, bass guitar, bugle, pan whistle, and keyboard. Where formal lessons stopped, intuition and observation took over. William would watch and learn from skilled musicians, picking up techniques and building his own expressive style - particularly with drums, which became his forte alongside music production.
Over the years, William performed with and alongside some of South Africa's iconic acts, including 4 Jacks and a Jill, Belljar, Boo, and Weslee. Each stage, each rehearsal, each studio session added another thread to the tapestry of what would eventually become Truesound.
But it wasn't until William began creating soothing, restorative instrumentals for rehabilitation clinics - and later met Marlo, the visionary who would become Truesound's publisher and creative director - that the concept of Truesound truly came to life.
Born from a space of healing, love, and pure creative freedom, Truesound is more than just a name - it is the essence of William's entire musical journey, and the beginning of something deeper still.
