A GRANDMOTHER WALKS ALMOST 20 KILOMETRES JUST TO SELL BALUT AND PENOY AND EARN A LIVING!
I saw Lola past 10 PM, and she still had nearly all her goods left to sell. She was carrying a heavy load of balut, penoy, chicharon, and kropek. To help her reduce what she had to carry home, I bought some even though I didn’t really need them. I also handed her 300 pesos to lend a hand.
Lola was so grateful. She told me she had been walking around selling since the afternoon, but business had been slow that day. She said it was a blessing that now, at least, she would be able to bring home some money to feed her family.
I hope that whenever we come across people like Lola selling on the streets, we can buy something from them, however small. Because that simple act of buying from them makes a huge difference in their daily lives.

Imagine, they were able to create a short film using nothing but an Android phone and costumes handmade by a 17-year-old student. 🎬✨
