“The Bible: A Slave Book Defended by the Enslaved”
Today, the descendants of those same enslaved people clutch that very book to their hearts. They defend it, protect it, and preach it — believing it was ever written for their liberation. The irony runs deep: the very tool that justified their ancestors’ suffering is now called holy truth.
It’s not about colour — it’s about control. The Bible was never a manual for freedom; it was a manual for obedience. It taught slaves to “honour their masters/bishops/lords” women to “submit,” and the poor to “wait for heaven” instead of demanding justice on Earth. It pacified generations under the illusion of divine order.
