Introducing South Africa’s very own Blue Eyed Elvis of Periodontics, Rhoodie Garrana dr_garrana šŸ¦‹šŸ’™

Rhoodie has an absolutely fascinating mind and spirit that I am so grateful to have captured on tape at the end of last year šŸ™šŸ»

After studying for 13 years with many heartaches, risks, pivots and character shaping moments, Rhoodie took the leap of faith to open up his own clinic specialising in implantation, periodontics and oral medicine and has helped change the lives of 1000s of patients all around Southern Africa.

In this episode Rhoodie and I speak about truth telling in the medical industry, learning to deal with failure as a key indicator of where improvements can be made and what it means to be a thought leader and business mind as a specialist in the medical industry.

Rhoodie’s work ethic, mindset and devotion to his patients and his passions, is a true testament to what it means to be in service of others.

For those of you who’ve had the pleasure of meeting Rhoodie will know just how important people like him are to our society as South Africans. He truly is one of the best in the world at what he does.

It is my hope that Rhoodie can inspire more medical practitioners to develop a mindset of embracing failure openly to mitigate error and create a culture of openness and understanding in order to grow and advance our already amazing technologies and health care systems.

This simple yet profound prayer has been a cornerstone of recovery for millions worldwide, particularly within Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). But did you know that its origins date back to the early 20th century?
Written by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in the 1930s, the prayer was initially used in sermons and devotional writings. It wasn’t until the 1940s that AA adopted it, recognising its transformative power in the recovery journey. Its message resonated deeply with those battling addiction, encapsulating the spiritual surrender, personal accountability, and practical wisdom necessary for healing.

The prayer reminds us that serenity isn’t about passive acceptance but about discerning where our energy is best spent. It calls for courage to take action where we can make a difference and wisdom to let go of what’s beyond our control.

In AA, the Serenity Prayer is more than words—it’s a daily practice, a guide for navigating life’s challenges, and a beacon of hope for those walking the path to sobriety.

May its timeless wisdom inspire us all to seek peace, act with courage, and embrace life’s journey with grace.

How Alcohol Affects Your Body at a Cellular Level

Alcohol may feel like a temporary escape, but the damage it does to your body is anything but fleeting. One of the most significant ways alcohol harms us is at the cellular level, disrupting the very building blocks of life.

When alcohol enters your system, it travels through your bloodstream, touching almost every organ. Here's what happens to your cells:

Toxic Damage: Alcohol is broken down into acetaldehyde, a toxic substance that damages cells and DNA. This process can lead to inflammation, oxidative stress, and cell death.

Brain Cells: Excessive alcohol consumption impairs the brain’s ability to create and repair neural pathways, which can lead to memory loss and cognitive decline.

Liver Cells: Your liver works overtime to detoxify alcohol, but prolonged exposure leads to liver cell damage, scar tissue, and conditions like fatty liver, hepatitis, or cirrhosis.

Immune System Suppression: Alcohol weakens white blood cells, making it harder for your body to fight off infections and heal wounds.

Digestive System Impact: Alcohol disrupts the lining of your stomach and intestines, leading to cell damage, ulcers, and reduced nutrient absorption.

The body can recover from moderate consumption, but chronic drinking overwhelms its repair mechanisms. Over time, this can lead to serious health issues like organ failure, immune deficiencies, and an increased risk of cancer.

It’s hard to fathom how anyone could deny such an intelligent designer because when I look at nature—the intricate details of a flower, the precision of the stars, the rhythm of the ocean—I can’t help but see the fingerprints of a Creator.
Yet, so often, we get lost in admiring the creation without acknowledging the One who created it all.

As Romans 1:25 reminds us, ā€œThey exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.ā€ When we marvel at the beauty of it all, I hope you never forget who it points us to.

Sin, at its core, creates disconnection—disrupting not only our relationship with God but also with ourselves and others. It thrives in shadows, distorting the truth and replacing clarity with confusion.

The chaos it introduces into our lives erodes trust, shatters connection, and blocks the flow of blessings that God desires for us. But sin isn’t just about the acts we commit; it’s the spiritual weight we carry, separating us from the love and abundance we are meant to experience.

When we choose to confront and release sin, we aren’t just seeking forgiveness—we’re choosing healing, wholeness, and alignment with God’s divine design. Let this serve as a reminder that His love is greater than any distance sin creates, and His grace is always waiting to restore us.

Are mushrooms sacred or sinful? What if what we fear holds the key to deeper understanding?

Why are we so afraid of what we don’t understand? Why are we so quick to label something as bad instead of asking why it exists in the first place?

I’ve had some of the most deeply spiritual, life-altering experiences through this medicine. It’s opened my heart, shifted my perspective, and brought me closer to understanding God in ways the church never could.
I’m not here to tell you what to believe, but I am here to challenge the fear, the judgment, and the lack of open dialogue. What if the very things we condemn are the keys to deeper faith, healing, and understanding?
My hope is that conversations like these encourage others to start asking hard questions. Faith isn’t about blind obedience—it’s about seeking truth, even when it feels messy.

Transformation is messy, uncomfortable, and often overwhelming—but prayer is the anchor that keeps us grounded through it all. It’s not just a conversation; it’s a connection to divine wisdom, reminding us that we’re held, guided, and protected, no matter how chaotic life feels. When we pray, we’re not asking for a way out; we’re finding the strength to stand firm and grow through the process. Let prayer be your reset, your grounding force, and your reminder that you’re never alone.

Regrowing neural pathways is vital for healing emotional and cognitive dysfunction. Psilocybin’s ability to reshape the brain fosters resilience, emotional freedom, and adaptability. It provides a biological foundation for transformative healing, allowing individuals to break free from limiting beliefs and deeply ingrained patterns, ultimately paving the way for a healthier, more connected state of being.

Research from institutions like Johns Hopkins University and Imperial College London has shown that psilocybin promotes neuroplasticity, enabling the brain to form new connections. Studies using brain imaging (fMRI) have demonstrated increased connectivity between previously disconnected brain regions and reduced activity in the default mode network. These findings are backed by peer-reviewed clinical trials and decades of scientific exploration into psilocybin’s effects on mental health and brain function.

Many fears about psilocybin stem from misunderstanding or stigma, often associating it with recreational drug abuse or losing control. Unlike harmful substances, psilocybin has been studied in controlled settings, showing profound healing effects on mental health without creating dependence. When used responsibly, in a safe and guided environment, it’s less about "tripping" and more about uncovering deep truths and unlocking the brain’s potential to heal and grow.

Have you personally experienced or do you know of anyone who has ever been through a guided journey? What was your or their experience like?

Forgiveness is the sacred act of releasing pain, freeing ourselves from darkness, and rising into realms of love, unity, and divine purpose.

Holding onto pain, anger, and resentment isn’t just a burden—it’s a battleground in the realm of spiritual warfare. Every grudge we carry, every memory we replay with bitterness, ties us to lower vibrational realms, keeping us stuck in cycles of hurt and separation. In a way, refusing to forgive is like holding onto a spiritual anchor, preventing us from ascending to the peace and light we’re meant to embody.

Forgiveness is not about condoning what happened; it’s about breaking the chains that bind us to those moments of pain. When we let go, we’re not just freeing ourselves from the person or event—we’re releasing the spiritual energy that keeps us tethered to darkness. It’s an act of rebellion against the forces that want to see us trapped in cycles of suffering.

The act of forgiveness lifts us into higher vibrational realms—places of love, unity, and grace. It’s in these realms that we reconnect with God, the divine, or our higher self, where the whispers of truth become louder, and the weight of our pain dissolves into peace. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting; it means choosing liberation over imprisonment, allowing the light of healing to replace the shadow of resentment.

In spiritual warfare, forgiveness is not surrender; it’s the ultimate weapon. It disarms the negativity that feeds off our anger and clears the path for blessings, clarity, and deeper connection to divine purpose. It’s in this act of letting go that we become conduits of love, vibrationally aligned with higher truths, and unshackled from the energies that hold us back.
