Beyond The Framework

In this podcast episode, I spoke with Raksha Nagraj, a solo woman traveller, TEDx speaker, entrepreneur, and adventure enthusiast who has explored 55+ countries across all seven continents and completed 95+ scuba dives worldwide. The discussion goes beyond travel and focuses on discipline, mindset, planning, and decision-making—skills that are equally relevant in personal and professional life.

Key Learnings & Discussion Highlights:
1. Time Management & Prioritisation: How Raksha balanced a full-time career with travel, hobbies, and continuous learning through structured planning.
2. Planning a Solo Trip: Practical steps every solo traveller should follow—from preparation and safety checks to decision-making on the ground.
Consistency Over Time: How long-term commitment helped her cover 55+ countries and build experience gradually, not impulsively.
3. Risk & Safety Awareness: A balanced perspective on real threats while travelling and how situational awareness matters more than fear.
4. Avoiding Bias from One-Time Experiences: Why a single bad experience should not define a destination, culture, or community.
5. Cultural Adaptability: Lessons from handling cultural shocks with openness rather than judgment.
6. Adventure as a Mindset: Viewing adventure not as an activity, but as a way of approaching uncertainty and growth.
7.Documentation & Reflection: Maintaining travel logs to reflect, learn, and improve future decisions.
8. Food & Lifestyle Choices on the Move: Managing preferences while respecting local cultures.
9. Women & Solo Travel: Clear, actionable tips for women travelling alone, including confidence-building and risk assessment.
This episode is a reminder that travel skills often mirror life and leadership skills—planning, resilience, adaptability, and perspective.

Beyond The Framework

Let’s stop pretending we don’t know this.
We demand instant justice on social media…
but stay silent when economic criminals quietly escape the country.
We shout at the police for street crimes…
but barely understand how sophisticated money laundering actually works.

In my recent podcast with Karnal Singh (Former ED Chief & IPS officer), one reality hit hard:
👉 Big crimes don’t look like crimes. They look like businesses.
Cases like Vijay Mallya weren’t about bags of cash.
They were about:
• Shell companies
• Fake invoices
• Bank loans turned into “legitimate” money
• Systems that were legally exploited before being morally questioned

And here’s the uncomfortable truth 👇
If laundering was only about criminals, it wouldn’t survive.
It survives because systems, silence, and sophistication allow it.

We also spoke about:
• Why arrest numbers don’t equal justice
• Why fear-based policing fails long-term
• Why Zero-FIR exists but citizens rarely demand it
• Why terrorism is ideology before it becomes violence
• Why interrogation is about psychology, not power

This episode won’t make you feel comfortable.
But it might make you think.

And maybe thinking is where real reform starts.

🔱 Jagannath Philosophy: The Soul of Odia Asmita 🔱

In conversation with Ahwaan Nayak, the youngest researcher on Lord Jagannath philosophy, we explored the deeper meanings hidden within Jagannath culture, tradition, and thought — unearthing how his teachings continue to shape the spirit of Odia Asmita (the pride and identity of being Odia).

The philosophy of Lord Jagannath is not just a spiritual belief — it’s a living expression of simplicity, inclusivity, and balance deeply rooted in the Odia way of life.

Here’s what we discussed in our latest podcast 🎧👇

🌿 Epitome of Simplicity:
Lord Jagannath, despite being the supreme deity, adorns only Tulsi and simple garments — teaching that divinity lies in humility. His consort, Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizes wealth, yet he reminds us that true richness lies in purity of heart, not possessions.

👨‍👩‍👧 Inclusivity in Divinity:
He stands with his siblings — Balabhadra and Subhadra — embodying family unity, equality, and shared existence.

🕯️ Respect for All Beings:
During Adharapana, he extends offerings to humans, spirits (bhoot and preta), and unseen creatures — symbolizing compassion for every form of life.

🌸 Celebrating Womanhood and Nature:
The Odia festival Raja Parba celebrates menstruation — honoring womanhood and fertility as sacred, not taboo.

💫 The Spirit of Odia Asmita:
These teachings make Odias humble, grounded, and inclusive — living embodiments of Jagannath’s philosophy that celebrates simplicity and universality.

Jagannath is not just a deity; he is a way of life — reminding us that true completeness lies in embracing imperfection, diversity, and compassion.
