Today, I had the honor of hosting the Shatter the Stigma International Virtual 5K – Race for Freedom, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

Human trafficking is not a distant issue — it's happening in our own communities, often hidden in plain sight.

Today, I ask, urge, stress - the importance of coming together across cities, states, and even countries to say: we see you, we stand with you, and we will not stay silent.

Every mile walked or ran today. Every dollar donated. Every share, every comment, every person who simply showed up — all of it directly supports survivors of human trafficking as they walk the road toward healing and freedom, through the incredible work of Pursued Int and Selah Freedom.

To everyone who participated, donated, sponsored, or simply cheered from the sidelines — thank you. This event would not have been possible without you, and neither is the ongoing work ahead.

The good news? It's not too late to be part of this. Donations and virtual participation remain open through tomorrow, July 26. If you have not yet had the chance to join in, there is still time to make an impact.

Our race page is here 👇🏽 runsignup.com/Race/DE/Middletown/ShatterTheStigmaI…

Freedom is worth every step. Thank you for walking it with me, and keep your eyes and ears open. January is calling 😉

Yours in Wellness,
Dr. Mel

The rise in youth mental health crises is no longer a statistic — it’s a call to action.

Across the country, middle, high school, and college students are facing unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. As leaders in education and community engagement, we cannot afford to stand by.

👉🏾Early intervention saves lives.
👉🏾Training saves lives.
👉🏾Prepared adults save lives. ❤️

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) equips community leaders, educators, staff, and university partners with the skills to recognize, respond, and reduce the mental health crises impacting our youth.

If we want the numbers to go down, the training must go up.

Let’s build safer schools, stronger communities, and a generation that feels seen, supported, and valued.

It starts with awareness. It moves with action. It changes with us.

If your school, church, or organization had access to YMHFA training, would you utilize it?

✨ September is Suicide Prevention Month ✨
Church leaders are often the first people families turn to in times of crisis. That’s why it is so critical that pastors, ministry staff, and volunteers are trained to walk alongside those facing anxiety, depression, burnout, or even suicidal thoughts.
As both a Licensed Professional Counselor and an ordained minister, I have seen the powerful connection between spiritual formation and mental well-being. When leaders are equipped, churches become safe havens of hope, healing, and resilience.
Let's create your team's opportunity to be Educated, Equipped, and Encouraged with:
✅ Biblical and scientific insights on renewing the mind
✅ Practical strategies to recognize & respond to crisis
✅ Suicide awareness & prevention tools
✅ Spirit-led ways to help others rediscover purpose and calling
💡 The time is now. Let’s ensure no one feels alone in their darkest moments.
👉 Is your church or network ready to be in position for restoring your community and giving HOPE to those feeling lost?
Send me a message, comment below, or tag your leaders. Let us connect today! This is the time to lock arms and work together to bring healing to our families, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and the list goes on.
