Did you know Halloween actually began in Ireland? 🇮🇪
Long before pumpkins and trick-or-treating, the ancient Celts celebrated Samhain — a festival marking the end of harvest and the start of winter. It was believed the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest, so people lit fires, wore disguises to ward off spirits, and carved terrifying faces into turnips, not pumpkins! 🎃
When Irish emigrants later brought the tradition to America, turnips were swapped for the much easier-to-carve pumpkin — and modern Halloween was born.
