A cobbler from Rajasthan's Balotra district has received a Rs 6.79 crore GST recovery notice tied to a Tamil Nadu firm he says he never ran. The case has raised fresh concerns over identity theft and alleged misuse of personal documents.
GSTN has announced that the proposed e-Way Bill system enhancements, which were scheduled to be implemented from 1st August 2026, have been deferred until further notice.
GSTN has also stated that the earlier advisories and related FAQs will be withdrawn from the GST Portal. A revised implementation date will be communicated by GSTN in due course.
Nagaland taxes team carries out 2-day GST field verification drive: The Nagaland state taxes department, Dimapur unit, carried out a two-day field inspection at various business establishments in Dimapur district as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen GST compliance, promote awareness among traders and vendors, and verify business activities at the ground level.
The inspection was conducted from Monday by a team of officers led by the deputy commissioner of state taxes, Chievitshu Nyuthe.
During the inspection, the officials verified the issuance of GST bills and invoices by registered vendors, conducted stock verification, reviewed business activities, and examined GST registration details to ensure compliance with the provisions of the NGST Act.
The team also interacted with business owners to clarify GST-related queries and encouraged voluntary tax compliance.
As part of the awareness drive, officers educated traders and consumers on the importance of issuing and obtaining proper GST invoices, emphasising that GST bills help ensure transparency, curb tax evasion and contribute to the state's development.
According to the department, while a majority of the registered taxpayers inspected were found to be complying with GST provisions, certain discrepancies were detected in some establishments.
These cases will be examined further in accordance with the provisions of the NGST Act, 2017, it stated.
The state taxes department appealed to all business establishments to issue GST invoices for every taxable supply and maintain proper books of account.
It also urged consumers to insist on GST bills for every purchase.
Income Tax Portal Update: Quarterly Statutory Forms Now Live on e-Filing Portal:
On June 30, 2026, the Income Tax Department has rolled out the second set of statutory forms as per the Income Tax Rules, 2026 on the e-Filing portal.
The newly enabled quarterly forms include Forms 121, 138, 140, 143, 144, 147 and 148. Taxpayers and other stakeholders can now access and file these forms through the Income Tax e-Filing portal.
This update is aimed at facilitating timely compliance and smoother online filing under the Income Tax Rules, 2026.
The Income Tax Department has released the latest version of the Common Offline Utility for filing Income-tax Returns in ITR 1, ITR 2, ITR 3 and ITR 4 for Assessment Year 2026-27 on the e-Filing portal.
