Growing up in a small English market town, Girelli can barely remember a time when he wasn’t writing songs. Initially shaped by his parents’ love of 1960s music, the tunes he’d always hummed or written in his head became a conscious, hands-on obsession when Nirvana and Britpop reinvigorated guitar-based music in the early ‘90s.
As a songwriter, Girelli has collaborated with a diverse group of era- and genre-spanning tunesmiths, from Mac Davis (Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers) to Linda Perry (Gwen Stefani, P!nk). He’s written hits for international chart-toppers including Macklemore and BTS and found success in theatre co-writing songs for award-winning French musicals Robin des Bois and Les Trois Mousquetaires.

Out Of This Town” is out now on @sunrecordcompany and I couldn’t be happier or more proud of how this album turned out. What a journey these songs have already had to this point. The album is the result of a collaboration between myself and my friend, songwriting legend and all round amazing human being @macdavisofficial over 10 years ago. A series of creative experiences that changed my artistic trajectory and will forever influence my writing. The album was originally envisaged as a big wall of sound record filled with timpani’s, strings and the kitchen sink but sat in rough acoustic demo form for so long that when I finally brought it into the studio to produce it with my good friend Lorenzo Wolff last year it was hard to move too far away from the rawness, honesty and intimacy that those original demos contained so we decided to let the songs and my voice lead the way and result was what you will hear on this album. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
I will of course be thinking of Mac all day today, wishing he was physically here to share this moment but that know he is here in spirit and I will share a drink or two with him later.
There’s a lot of subtly in this album for you to explore and discover. So pour yourself a glass of red wine, or a shot of tequila, or a Ribena or whatever you desire and sink into “Out Of This Town” with love. Thank you as always for listening. I hope you enjoy the album. It’s yours now.
