i think a couple years back fnaf fans always had such black and white takes about william's parenting, like he either despises his kids and wants to kick em to the curb and feed them to burning crocodiles or his sole motivation as a character is to save them and get his family back. like idk i think if we're seeing the full picture of a psychopath raised in the 50s he probably had some superficial affection for them, even if only as a trophy of his role as a Successful Man in society. but obviously as he went deeper and deeper into his obsession with immortality what was already a very low priority in his life became even lower
