I’m pleased to share “The Story of Mesa Verde” was recognized as apart of the ‪@lincolnpresidentialfoundation‬ Latest Generation Film Contest!
This contest aims to showcase historical documentaries produced by young filmmakers from across the country. This year’s theme “Think Anew, Act Anew” focused on historical figures that had to overcome generational challenges with innovative ideas.
My film highlights the architectural evolution within Mesa Verde National Park, beginning with primitive pithouses to the eventual construction of the iconic cliff dwellings.
Built by the native Pueblos over 700 years ago, Mesa Verde National Park preserves some of the most remarkable cliff dwellings in North America.
At its peak, the region supported thousands of inhabitants living and working together in an interconnected community of villages.
Today, more than 600 cliff dwellings and 5000 archaeological sites have been documented.

Carved by the Gunnison River over millions of years, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is one of the steepest canyons in America.
At its narrowest point, the canyon is just 40 feet wide at the rim while dropping nearly 2,000 feet to the river below.
In certain sections, the canyon is so narrow that sunlight reaches the bottom for only a brief period each day, giving rise to the name “Black Canyon.”

The way the light hits the dunes creates some really striking shots. And if you're lucky enough to spot another hiker in the dunes, you can really appreciate the scale of the place.
And while some of these pics may look like drone photography, they were all taken while standing on top of the dunes. Just goes to show how massive they are!

We explored an abandoned missile launch site!
The Green River Launch Complex is a former US military site that built and fired scaled-down versions of the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
Located just off of I-70 in Utah, millions of people drive by this site without realizing what sits abandoned in the desert!

#1 Forrest Gump point — The iconic location along US-163 where Forrest Gump stops running.
#2-3 Utah State Line & Monument Valley — Many scenes from old western films have been shot in this region of Utah.
#4-5 Valley of the Gods — A scenic 17-mile gravel road often described as a miniature and less crowded Monument Valley.
#6-8 The Moki Dugway — A steep, unpaved section along Utah Route 261 with 10% grades and 1200ft in elevation gain.
