Congratulations to Coach Usukh-Ireedui on becoming the State Honored Coach of Mongolia! 🇲🇳 Т.
I am grateful for the opportunity in these past few weeks to train at Aldar sport under the supervision of Coach Usukh-Ireedui. I will continue training wrestling and maybe in the future we can help more people around the world understand Mongol Bökh and judag (the ethics of a Mongol wrestler).
To give thanks is to appreciate. What are we appreciating? I appreciate we are not in a time of famine, genocidal warfare, and slavery. The original Thanksgiving came out of such things. ☠️
Yet, I can also appreciate that we are nearing an end of an era, and confronted with geopolitical shifts, new tech, microplastics, being economically strangled and a lot of Fear and Loathing in America. Yes, Fear... insecurity, jealousy, victim mindset and seductive urge to declare superiority on some arbitrary sh!t, to turn off empathy, to hold your opinions as greater than fact, virtue signaling over connecting, wanting to punish more than wanting justice... loath thy neighbor right? That b!тcн mentality has never led anywhere good. 😬
Smash through the idiocy. Water matters, Sky matters, land matters, we matter. Put down your drug (alcohol, cigarettes, porn, coke, TikTok, coffee) and drink water, eat well, move more, get better rest, and go outside... Really talk to each other, learn some new sh!т and interact with another culture. ❤️
————— This Ballhead Warclub (Bagamagan) was made by Ernest Gendron as a homage to Wawanolet and the era of strife from the 1600s into the 1700s when Englishmen and other Europeans invaded the Dawnland, fought the indigenous people and took their lands with much bloodshed back and forth, coercion and plague. Truly a savage time.
IF I'm not mistaken... this was the FIRST SHUAI JIAO WORKSHOP OF OKINAWA! Thank you to Sensei James Pankiewicz of @asatodojokancho for hosting me and the 摔角 Shuai Jiao workshop. This wrestling art, an offshoot of Mongol Bokh, is a dominant form of grappling in its own right but also a perfect compliment to many traditional martial arts and their "boxing" whether you call it 拳 quán or Kun or 手 te...
Wrestling is key 🗝️
I want to take a moment to recognize Sensei James Pankiewicz and his Asato dojo. The folks here are passionate and friendly. In a martial arts landscape where cross training seems minimal and the 分解 bunkai (application, analysis) of 形 kata (套路, form) is not always emphasized.. the Asato Dojo is not only a refreshing home of 空手道 karate with its techniques and tactics explored but also a Nexus to connect with others in Okinawa. Anyone going there should consider hitting up the Asato Dojo.
I will release a video this weekend discussing my experiences in Okinawa, including this workshop!
Thank you to Hokama Sensei for letting me drop in on a great Goju Ryu class and having Ashley and I stick around for your birthday party. Hokama Tetsuhiro Sensei was born in Taiwan in 1944 and lived there until he was 6 years old, his parents fled Okinawa due to the American counter-invasion of the belligerent Japanese empire. He is the Chairman and Soke of the Goju-ryu Kenshikai Dojo Headquarters and a strong guiding presence to his students. Wishing you many more years of health, fulfillment and strength. 🙏
I also want to say I am incredibly grateful to all the karateka who were so helpful in teaching me basic Goju Ryu. As a Taizu boxer /kuntaoist, it's very interesting to see a similar yet very distinct system to what I do. 💪
Thank you Bunshiro Nagamine Sensei for the basic Matsubayashi-Ryū lesson and the introduction to tegumi (Okinawan sumo). I believe this man is quietly pushing karate to a better place. Grateful to shake hands with a passionate martial artist truly serving his community. 🤝
Sensei James Pankiewicz, thank you for inviting me to the @asatodojookinawa7411 , the great and insightful conversations, the opportunities, the lesson in Matsubayashi-Ryū, and perhaps most of all thanks for the friendship. 🤝
Hope to see you again soon, be it in Taiwan or Okinawa.
Thanks to Master Zhan of the Liùyì wǔ xué School for spending time today letting me experience pike and Bajiquan. Good Kung Fu, Even Better People. When I'm free I'll definitely go back to Taipei to seek you out again!
感謝師兄!🙏 Today I visited Martial Brother Juin-haur Chang. This is our second time meeting up. What he shared with me has given me valuable training concepts and also increased optimism. Thank you big bro!
