Mount Agung will be closed for tourists till 3rd May 2025 due to the ceremonies of Ida Bhatara Turun Kabeh at Pura Agung Besakih.

So you won't be able to do the sunrise trek of Mount Agung till then. You can try the Mount Batur trek instead.

This was definitely one of the best things we did in Bali. It was really a challenging activity for the first time trekkers like us but it was required for witnessing such beautiful views. No shortcuts for this. We felt really proud to have completed this. Here is the sequence of photos that we took from the phone during the trek:
1. At the first resting point after only 45 minutes of trekking. We were getting a sense of the difficulty. How are we going to do this for the next 6 hours?
2. As we were gaining altitude, the views were getting magnificent.
3. Watching over Bali, we realised that choosing Mount Agung over Mount Batur trek was a wise choice.
4. Finally at 6 am, we were at the highest point of the Bali.
5. The Sun was shining on us and we feeling more energised than ever at height of 3142 m.
