This channel is traveling through the World War II years one week at a time starting in late December, 1940 through radio.
We also have a Patreon page that is much more exciting than this channel, “World War II on the Air and in Print”. Over there we follow the war EVERY DAY through radio and a newspaper. At times we will also share documentaries about where we are in the war and veteran interviews. It is a wonderful virtual Time Machine. Clicking the link will take you to that page where you can sign up for a one week trial. After that, if you like what you see, you can choose between a $2 and $5 a month tier. Best of all, it helps support this channel since it does not qualify for monetization.

Do you like the theme song, by Queen, for the "Radio Ga Ga" videos?

As you noticed, I haven't put shows up last weekend. I've been sick. Nothing serious, no hospital or anything like that. Since last Thursday I've been sleeping a lot, like 15-20 hours, and I've lost five pounds from not eating much. It's pretty much flulike and I'm sure the worst is over. I have a lot more energy and I am finally eating substantially again. I still have a bad cough. I hope to be rid of it enough to be able to put together the shows for this weekend. I don't have an understudy. Thanks for your patience. If you want lots of nostalgia, check our Patreon page "World War II on the Air and in Print" which has not missed a beat.

Have some computer issues. Actually an external hard drive issue. The one with the radio files I use is about ready to go so I’m uploading the files to a second back up so I don’t lose everything at once. There are well over 10,000 files I have to move. This will probably take up most of my day. I hope to put tonight’s show, and the one I had planned for tomorrow, up during the week.

Tomorrow, November 5, 2024, is Election Day in the United States. I know most of you are probably tired of seeing and hearing the endless stream of political ads. To be sure, no matter who wins, it will be an historic election. We will either have our first woman President or it will be only the second time in our nation's history that a President has been elected to serve two non-consecutive terms.
If you want a break from today's political bickering, come join us tomorrow night at 7 PM Central Time as we travel back to a seemingly more innocent political era. Tomorrow's show will feature over five hours of actual newscasts and political programs from 1948. The first hour will be devoted to giving you a background to what the political scene was like. Then there will be over two hours of election returns coming in. The election was so close the coverage spanned two days, November 2nd and 3rd. After that, you will hear some programs covering the aftermath of the election including the audio from a very early "Meet the Press" television program. I'm looking forward to spending Election Night with you. Who will win, Dewey, Truman, Thurmond, or Wallace?

Hey guys! I know that I’ve been neglectful at posting recently. I am no longer working my day job, I retired after 36 years, which means I finally will get to post more on this platform. Also, I have big plans for revamping my other channel, “Latest News Dispatches - Historical News Dispatches”. If you don’t already know, I’ve been reading five minutes of actual news as written from historical dates. I am going to begin posting on there more often as well. I’m going to start at January 1, 1938 and go in chronological order. My Patreon page, “World War II on the Air and in Print” has many new stuff with great stuff there. So watch for at least one new video here this week, maybe more. I hope to be able to schedule myself to be consistent.

Hey guys! I know many of you miss the classic movie double-features I used to put on this channel. I am putting them on my Patreon page “World War II on the Air and in Print” exclusively. Here is a link to a double-feature I put up yesterday as a sampling for you. Use the link to go to the video. There is a thirty second opening to give you time to settle in with your popcorn (extra butter) and Coca-Cola. These films were playing in Chicago in June, 1943. Instructions on how to subscribe to the page are in the comments below.

Great news! New show tonight at 9 PM Eastern Time. I apologize for it being so long between shows. Life has been extremely busy as of late. At the end of June I will be retiring from the job I held since I was 19 years old in 1988 and I’m hoping that will give us more time to visit and listen to the radio on a consistent basis. If you want many more radio shows, vintage movies, music, and vintage newspapers, check out our Patreon page “World War II on the Air and in Print”. You can take out a free trial by using the link below and scrolling down and picking a tier that suits you. You can cancel before the week is out for no charge.

On our Patreon page we are going through World War II in chronological order through newspapers and pop culture. Here is a great example of one of our classic movie posts. You will notice from the thumbnail that there are two films playing on the same bill. Both are featured in the video. It is almost like you are back in 1943.
If you enjoy classic entertainment take out one week free trial to our page. You have to scroll down and choose a tier that suits you. You can cancel before the week is up with no charge. The link to the page is in the comments to this post.

You may have noticed that there are no longer classic movies posted on this channel. YouTube is kind of funny when it comes to movies. Many times they will be fine for a while and then for some reason they will get removed. Most of the time removal is done without my knowledge and with no other consequences. A couple of days back I had one removed and was given a “strike” which means if it happens two more times the channel is taken down. So far I have not had this issue on my Patreon page, “World War II on the Air and in Print”. Because of that, all movies are going to be on that platform exclusively. I usually post 2-3 a week and a movie serial (think “Flash Gordon” etc.). Here is the link to that page. You can take out a free one week trial and browse around. To find the classic movies go to the “collections” tab at the top of the screen. You will see several playlists. Two are devoted to the classic movies. If you find that you don’t want to subscribe then you can cancel before the week is out with no charge.
