Today ‪@DarkEssenceRecords‬ proudly present the second full-length albumfrom British Five The Hierophant, "Through Aureate Void"!

The follow-up to 2017s “Over Phlegethon” sees Five The Hierophant further explore the dark atmospheres of their psychedelic and drone-like doom jazz metal.

On “Through Aureate Void” they go in an even more psychedelic direction, without losing any of the heaviness or darkness. Also, the use of untraditional instruments like saxophone, music saw, zither and a wide range of percussions, Five The Hierophant creates a totally unique soundscape which you won’t find anywhere else.

Commenting on the making of the album, the band says:
"It took us longer than anticipated, as you can imagine, due to circumstances that befall us all. Nonetheless, the new album is finished, and ready to take you on a journey through aureate void. It’s quite abstract, and there's lots of experimentation, both in regard to the sound and instruments used, and to the song structures. A lot of it comes from improvisation and leaving things to chance. I suppose we have taken it further than our debut album."

The new Code album Flyblown Prince will be released by Dark Essence Records in June 2021. Stay tuned!

After a long, and for some, an impatient, wait, CODE are back with “Flyblown Prince” the fifth full-length album from the legendary UK band that has, over the years, preferred to dodge any attempts at being categorised by forging its own individual path through the ever-expanding minefield of genres.

Set to hit the streets on Dark Essence Records on the 4th of June, “Flyblown Prince” is a perverse fairytale of an album that guides its listeners through the twists and turns of a dark and ghoulish nightmare fantasy of cinematic proportions. As the band explains:

We are thrilled to finally be unleashing our new album ‘Flyblown Prince’ with our friends at Dark Essence Records. This album is the result of three years of work and it is wonderful to be able to let it loose in all its mad, brutal and grandiose glory. Every detail has been meticulously poured over and we think this is our richest release to date. We hope you enjoy our 45-minute, darkness filled and anxiety ridden offering.

For “Flyblown Prince” CODE’s lineup of Aort on Guitars, Lordt on Drums, Syhr on Bass and Wacian on Vocals, with guitarist Andras providing support on the recordings, have created an ever-shifting soundscape of moods and violent aggression, to produce an album that is quite possibly the most intense and extreme album the band has ever produced. A progressive album, both musically and technically, and one the likes of which hasn’t been heard in years.

Formed in London in 2002 from the black ruminations of Aort’s early project, SEASONAL CODE, the band have drawn a creative line through a series of full-length studio albums starting with the brittle avant-garde of 2005’s “Nouveau Gloaming”, to 2009’s Spellemann-nominated “Resplendent Grotesque”, before moving on to the mad theatre of 2013’s “Augur Nox”, and the bleak, anaesthetic wash of 2015’s “mut”.

FIRST SINGLE FROM UPCOMING SUPERLYNX ALBUM AND OFFICAL MUSIC VIDEO OUT TODAY




Dark Essence Records have announced that the 16th April 2021 has been set for the release of “Electric Temple”, the third full-length album from SUPERLYNX, the Norwegian trio known for its distinctive, genre-defying sound that combines doom, psychedelic and meditative atmospheres with heaviness and droning rock.

As a taste of things to come, the label has today released both a single, and a video, of the title track. The single is available to download or stream on a number of services at:

For SUPERLYNX’s lineup of Pia Isaksen on Bass and Vocals, Daniel Bakken on Guitars and Ole Teigen on Drums, piano, keys and vocals, “Electric Temple” is both a continuation on from their previous album “New Moon” and a further development of moods not previously explored by the band. Poignantly, “Electric Temple” also bears a deeply felt mark left by the tragic death of a close family member.

According to the band, the title of the album is a reference to Jimi Hendrix´ way of looking at music. As they explain:

«Our music and lyrics are as always very personal to us and refer to what we go through. Life, music, nature and inspiration is a general focus. We always want to push ourselves and explore deeper, wider and further and we feel this album shows our effort in that respect.

As Hendrix said “We call our music ‘electric church music.. Because it’s like a religion to us.” And that is much like how we feel about ours. In music we find so much of what people seek in temples, religions or other spiritual forms – strength to endure trials, peace of mind, ecstasy, safety, hope, community, joy, transcendence etc. In the process of writing our third album this truth only become clearer to us. Music is our temple.»

As to the actual technical aspects of the album SUPERLYNX went to describe how fortunate they were that producer Marc Urselli got in touch with the band wanting to work on the album with them:

He happens to be a multiple Grammy Award win­ning producer who has done sound for Nick Cave, Mike Patton, Lou Reed, Keith Rich­ards, The Black Crowes and countless more. He also has a project with Lee Ranaldo & Jim Jarmusch, has played in a trio with Stephen O´Malley and has a project with people like Steve von Till, Matt Pike, Lori S, Dave Chandler and more.

But these credits were not what was important to us though. It was rather the fact that his sound was so in line with what we ourselves hoped to get out of this. Marc ended up mixing the album and we are really happy about how he has enhanced our sound.

The same goes for Fridtjof Lindeman of Strype Audio, who mastered “Electric Temple” as he did for our previous two albums. He is always a pleasure to work with and does excellent work every time.
