I watch hundreds of film submissions every single year, and these are by far the most common reasons I don't recommend movies for our festival. You can increase your festival acceptance rate just by having a targeted strategy instead of just submitting randomly. This is my strategy, The "60-30-10" Method, for targeting a mix of festivals so I can make the most of my time and money.

Using this method, I got an acceptance rate of 50% - 18 of 36 submissions (and counting).
