I started the ketogenic lifestyle nearly 8 years ago. I had no idea how much it would change my life. 🙏

My first year, fumbling through it I dropped over 65 pounds. I’ve been able to keep most of it off over the years. Once I committed to this way of living it became easy.
.
If you’re starting a #keto lifestyle, here’s few tips to get started.
.
Cut out sugar. It’s addictive and useless. Stop pasta, bread, potatoes and rice right away. These are NOT nutrient dense and also useless.
.
Focus on Whole Foods. Basically stay out of the middle aisles of the grocery store. If you do venture into the center aisles, BEWARE of things labeled “Keto” and be diligent to educate yourself on ingredients and read labels. If it is has soybean oil, leave it there.
.
Prioritize fat! It keeps you full and satiated. Replace seed oils like vegetable oil, corn oil and canola oil with olive oil, avocado oil, butter, ghee, tallow and my lard. You can render and save tallow as well as lard.
.
Pack your plate with protein. 🥩🐓🐖🍳🐑🦐🦀🐟 I try to prioritize red meat. I eat a lot of beef and eggs, but also mix in chicken, pork, lamb and seafood. I believe in the benefits of eating organ meats, but that’s not totally necessary. 💪 You could also add protein powder. Once again, read those ingredient labels. Some are loaded with sugar. I like @equipfoods 💪

Stay hydrated! The top cause of keto flu symptoms is being dehydrated. Salt your food and drinking plenty of water. A good quality #electrolyte like @redmondrelyte will work wonders in combating those problems. It’s rich in magnesium and not loaded with sugar and garbage like most brands are.
.
Finally, GIVE YOURSELF GRACE. If you slip and eat something you shouldn’t, move on. Don’t use it as an excuse to go off the rails. After your body changes and gets used to burning fat for energy and not all the sugar and carbs, it can be difficult. I learned this the hard way. This helped me to stay on the low carb path.
