I don’t understand why people don’t respect people’s pronouns if that person isn’t around. That person still will be referred to with their preferred pronouns even if they’re not around because that is how you would refer to them.

Example: someone uses he/him pronouns but is assigned female at birth. You see him walking by while talking about him to another person. You refer to him as “he” because he might be listening. Once that person leaves you then refer to him as “she”.

Why?!?
