It’s More Than Just Money

The property economy is bigger than buying and selling houses.

It’s landlords.
It’s tenants.
It’s developers.
It’s agents.
It’s plumbers, electricians and service providers.
It’s side hustlers trying to build something meaningful.
It’s ordinary people looking for a way into property and business.

On the 23rd of May 2026, we’re bringing all of that together at the AddProp Roadshow: Vaal Edition.

This is more than an event.
It’s a live ecosystem experience where people can:
• learn,
• connect,
• onboard onto AddProp,
• explore opportunities,
• understand property and business,
• and become part of a growing national movement.

We’ll also be showcasing how AddProp is building infrastructure across:
• property,
• technology,
• finance,
• services,
• distribution,
• and opportunity creation.

• a landlord,
• entrepreneur,

It’s More Than Just Money

My mother passed away in 2014 on Women’s Day.

But this incredible woman here, my Kokwani, stepped in and became my mother long before that. Truthfully, she has always been my mother.

She raised me, shaped me, prayed for me, corrected me, protected me, and poured into me long before I understood the depth of her love.

She is 93 years old today.

A living symbol of strength, sacrifice, resilience, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Sometimes we think motherhood is only biological. It’s not. Some women mother through sacrifice, presence, discipline, prayer, guidance, and love.

Happy Mother’s Day to Ma Mshagaan and to every phenomenal woman who mothers with heart, whether by birth or by purpose.

We see you.
We honour you.
We thank you.

And because women like this shaped my thinking and my life, I dedicated myself to helping people think differently about their futures, purpose, growth, and resilience.

So we are extending the Mother’s Day Special until Tuesday night.

It’s More Than Just Money

My mother invested everything she had in me before she died.

I get emotional when people say they wish they had met me earlier in life because those words always remind me of my mother.

After losing my brother in 2006 and my sister in 2001, my mother suffered a severe stroke in 2008. Doctors told her not to return to work, but in 2010 she went back to Tembisa Hospital anyway. Her left hand no longer worked properly. Her left leg could barely walk without limping.

But she went back.

She once told me:

“Don’t ever let anyone feel pity for you my boy. I might be partially crippled, but I’m still alive.”

At the end of 2009, I had just been excluded from Wits University. She told me to apply at MGI. I can still hear her proudly ululating as I walked across the stage to receive my degree in 2013.

One thing she always told my younger brother and I was that her dream car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. She believed that by the time I graduated, she would be healed enough to buy it for herself.

Unfortunately, in December 2013, she suffered another stroke that fully paralyzed her. For 9 months she couldn’t speak. Whenever she saw me, she would just cry.

Years later, when I bought my first SUV, I ended up choosing a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Without realizing it, I had bought my mother her dream car. The dream she sacrificed so I could be educated.

I settled the score on her behalf.

If my mother was still alive today, I would say:

Happy Mother’s Day Ma Bobo.
Finini Emily Saina Annah Mdaka.
You will always be my hero.

And because my mother sacrificed so much for my future, I dedicated my life to helping others think differently about their own future too.

Today only, for Mother’s Day:

It’s More Than Just Money

I get emotional when people say they wish they had met me earlier in life. Those words always remind me of my mother.

She used to say to me: “Witty my boy, I wish you were my first born child. Had you been my first born child then maybe your elder brother and sister would still be alive. I think you would’ve set a very good example for them to follow. I’m so proud of you my son.”

My mother invested everything she had in me before she died.

When she suffered her first stroke in 2008, she had already lost my brother in 2006 and my sister in 2001. Looking back now, I think she carried guilt as a parent. She became hard on me because she saw something in me and wanted me to become everything she believed I could become. I think she saw me as her second chance at parenting.

After suffering a severe stroke in 2008, doctors and hospital management told her not to return to work. But in 2010, she went back to work at Tembisa Hospital anyway. Her left hand no longer worked properly. Her left leg could barely walk without limping.

But she went back.

She once told me: “Don’t ever let anyone feel pity for you my boy. I might be partially crippled, but I’m still alive.”

At the end of 2009, I had just been excluded from Wits University. She told me to go apply at MGI. I can still hear her proudly ululating as I walked across the stage to receive my degree in early 2013.

By then I had already started working. She said to me: “I don’t need you to do anything for me. I want you to enjoy your money. You can even trade in the car I bought you for a BMW if you want.”

I chose a bakkie instead.

My mother gave me a pass on black tax. She told me not to carry that burden.

One thing she often told my younger brother and I was that her dream car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. She believed that by the time I graduated, she would be healed enough to buy it for herself.

Unfortunately, in December 2013, she suffered another stroke that fully paralyzed her. For 9 months she couldn’t speak. Whenever she saw me, she would just cry. I could see that she wanted to say something to me, but she couldn’t.

Those were the hardest months of my life.

Years after she passed away, I would still cry whenever I reached a milestone I knew she would’ve been proud of.

She passed away on Women’s Day in 2014. My mbokodo left me on the very day mbokodos are celebrated.

Years later, when I was searching for my first SUV, I wanted a BMW X5 but eventually settled for a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

In doing that, I unknowingly bought my mother her dream car. The dream she sacrificed so I could be educated.

I settled the score on her behalf.

Recently my younger brother said something that broke me: “Abuti, Maolady would’ve been very proud of you if she was still alive. I’m also proud of you, and I want you to know that I’m following in your footsteps.”

If my mother was still alive today, I would say:

Happy Mother’s Day Ma Bobo. MAMA. Finini Emily Saina Annah Mdaka. Nwana kokwane Chuma.

I will always love you.You will always be my hero.

And because my mother sacrificed so much for my future, I dedicated my life to helping others think differently about their own future too.

It’s More Than Just Money

One of the best things to have ever happened to me as a young person who grew up in the township was working for Jewish people. In those 14 months, I made it my mission not only to learn the work, but to learn the way they speak, do business, and work. Today, some of my best friends are Jewish.

Most of the time, all I do is observe. Some of the things I’ve learned are that relationships are better than money, and time is better than money. “If I gave you R100 million today, but you died tomorrow, would you take it?” is one of the questions they like asking.

The other day, I was driving around with a mentor who was introduced to me by my former Jewish boss. And I could tell why they were friends. This particular mentor is Greek and not Jewish, but their mindsets are similar.

During that drive through Fresnaye, Clifton, and Sea Point, I could see that he was intentionally brainwashing me.

We drove in his convertible, and he took me to some of the most expensive houses I’ve ever been in during my whole life. In some cases, we would just be “passing by a friend’s house to sort something out.” But I could tell that he was simply giving me exposure.

And I’ll never forget something he said:“For every need, there’s a relationship you need to unlock.”

He would say that while picking up the phone to call one of his friends to introduce me.

You know what? It’s More Than Just Money. It really is.

IT’S MORE THAN JUST MONEYA guide to escaping the rat race and building generational wealth.

It’s More Than Just Money

Freedom in South Africa was never meant to end at voting. It was meant to extend into ownership, into wealth, into economic power.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth.

Owning property alone will not make you rich.
Business alone will not make you wealthy.
Opportunity alone will not change your life.

It’s the person.

There are people who own property and remain poor.
There are people in business who never win.
And there are people who, no matter the environment, always find a way.

That’s the difference.

Investors don’t just bet on the business. They bet on the jockey.

Some people are wired to win. Not because life is easier for them, but because their mindset forces outcomes. They adapt. They learn. They execute. They don’t complain, they build.

Freedom without the right mindset is still limitation.

We come from a history where access was denied. Today, access exists — to property, to business, to information, to capital. But access means nothing if mindset does not evolve.

Middle-class is a mindset.
Poverty is a mindset.
Wealth is a mindset.

That’s why two people can sit in the same opportunity and walk away with completely different results.

One sees risk.
One sees leverage.

One complains about banks.
One structures deals.

One waits.
One builds.

Don’t listen to people who tell you something can’t be done. They are not describing reality. They are describing themselves.

The question is simple:

Are you the jockey investors would bet on?

This Freedom Day, don’t just celebrate political freedom. Build economic freedom. Build capacity. Build discipline. Build a mindset that wins.

Because the future of this country will not be decided by policy alone. It will be decided by individuals who choose to build.

AddProp is here to power that shift.

Nearly R4.8 billion in property listings.
Over 23,000 users and growing.

This is not just a platform. It’s infrastructure for a new kind of ownership.

Let’s build a better South Africa.
