Welcome to Bible Story Life! Today, we’re diving into a powerful truth: “Everything is in God’s hands, so put Him first.” This message isn’t just a reminder; it’s a call to live a life anchored in faith, trust, and surrender.

Life often feels like a whirlwind. There are moments of joy, but also seasons of uncertainty, fear, and loss. The world tells us to rely on our own strength, to chase success, and to seek control over every detail of our lives. Yet the Bible offers a completely different perspective: everything is already in God’s hands.

In Isaiah 41:10, God reassures us with these words: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” What an incredible promise! God, the Creator of the universe, holds each of us in His hands. He knows our struggles, our fears, and our dreams, and He has the power to guide us through every situation.

But what does it truly mean to live as though everything is in God’s hands? It begins with one simple, yet profound choice: to put Him first.

Why should we put God first?
1. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
From the very beginning, God has been in control. He spoke the world into existence, He breathed life into humanity, and He continues to sustain all things through His power. Every breath we take is a gift from Him. Psalm 24:1 reminds us, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

When we recognize this truth, we begin to see our lives differently. We understand that nothing truly belongs to us—not our possessions, our time, or even our plans. Everything we have comes from God, and it is our privilege to honor Him by placing Him at the center of our lives.

2. Putting God first brings peace and purpose.
Life can feel overwhelming when we try to carry its burdens on our own. But Jesus invites us to lay those burdens at His feet. In Matthew 6:33, He says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

This verse is a promise and a challenge. When we prioritize God’s kingdom—when we focus on His will, His word, and His purpose for our lives—He promises to take care of everything else. Our worries about tomorrow, our needs, and even our deepest desires are safe in His hands.

When we put God first, life doesn’t necessarily become easier, but it becomes meaningful. We begin to see that every moment, whether joyful or painful, is part of His greater plan.

3. Trusting God’s hands means surrendering control.
One of the hardest things for us as humans is to let go of control. We like to plan, to predict, and to make things happen. But Proverbs 3:5-6 offers us this wisdom: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Submitting to God doesn’t mean giving up; it means choosing to trust the One who knows the end from the beginning. It means believing that His plans are better than ours, even when we don’t understand them in the moment.

How can we put God first in our daily lives?
Putting God first isn’t just a one-time decision—it’s a daily commitment. Here are some practical steps to help you live out this truth:

Start your day with Him. Spend time in prayer and Scripture every morning. Ask God to guide your thoughts, decisions, and actions throughout the day.
Prioritize His Word. Let the Bible be your foundation for decision-making. When you’re unsure of what to do, seek wisdom from Scripture.
Serve others with love. Putting God first often means putting others before ourselves. Look for opportunities to bless and encourage those around you.
Surrender your plans. Pray for God’s will to be done, even when it doesn’t align with your own desires. Trust that His plan is perfect.
A Final Reflection
As we close today’s message, I want to leave you with this thought: Are you living as though everything is truly in God’s hands? Are you putting Him first in your decisions, your relationships, and your goals?

Take a moment to reflect on your life. If there’s an area where you’ve been holding on too tightly—whether it’s fear, pride, or control—invite God to take over. Surrender it to Him and trust that He will lead you in the right direction.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Everything is in His hands. And when we put Him first, we can walk forward with confidence, knowing that we are held by a loving and faithful God.
