Primitive Lifeways is the result of over 20 years experience in wilderness living and primitive technologies. With a background in professional archaeology, our vision is to pass along ancient knowledge and field experience to you, the viewer. Our goal is to go beyond the physical skill aspect of advanced primitive skills and offer the viewer an experience which helps with understanding each skill and cultural background at the most fundamental level. All of the stills taught here have withstood the test of time and are practiced today by local and international indigenous communities across the globe.
On this channel you can explore wild lands with us! Learn about the natural environment, edible and medicinal plants, flintknapping, bow and arrow crafting, primitive pottery, and everything outdoor self-reliance related. We learn and grow together as a community!

Just to clarify my last post. While still focusing on the roots and fundamentals of outdoor content, this channel will be going in a very different direction from the bow making-primitive skills format.
Everybody’s interests change and mine certainly have over the years.

Hey everyone, just a quick update here. I am still working on the Pit River bow video. I have been extremely busy and while content is not as persistent, I appreciate your support. This will be my last bow making video on the channel. After that, content will shift in a new direction.

If you have been watching my channel for sometime now you have seen many diverse environments. In the early days of Martin Survival, some of my videos were filmed in Kerrville. In 2012 I almost moved there and thought about it again two years ago.
My prayers are with the good people there. One thing I do know, is the people in the South will always come together to help.

Hey all, just a quick update. I just checked the moisture content on the bow staves I have. The osage orange and ash staves I cut are still too wet to work with. Until these dry completely, I can not work with them. The yew wood I have is dry. So my next video release will be making the Pit River bow.
After this project is complete, Sitting Bull's bow will follow.
I promise the Pit River Bow will be a fun build!

Time for another announcement. For 5 plus years now I have been asked by many to make a documentary on the Navajo bow. My next project will be exactly that. I am currently in the beginning stages of outlying the video and in touch with a Navajo friend and a family member to bring them into the video. I will be traveling to Arizona to film this project.
