I'm a mom to 3 young children! I want to help others in all the areas I struggled with in my parenting journey! I focus on babywearing here- as that made such a huge impact on my life as a mom!
The two things that made my nursing journey more accessible... Learning to nurse in a carrier and having a few key clothing items that made it easy! What helped you?
And of course having support and education behind it- but these were two practical, day to day things that helped.
This beautiful Weaverbirds handwoven wrap is going to be available on Friday!! All profits go to a charity that works with victims of human trafficking π
This is such a crazy part of pregnancy- especially when you have other children already! I find myself thinking about how each moment could be the last moment as a family of five.
For example, this could be the last night that we venture out as a family of five to go pick blackberries and huckleberries while getting some fresh air on our property.
It could be the last time I wrap my son until my body has healed enough postpartum.
It could be the last time my baby girl is held inside my body.
Also- we still have no name!! This is the longest it's ever taken is. Any favorites you want to suggest!?
This is the @loveheld waffle woven π it's absolutely amazing and I love it so much!!
How did you feel it benefited you as a new parent? Did you find it took some time to get used to, or did it feel natural from the first time?
I was lucky and had some experience with babywearing before becoming a mom. I wore the baby I nannied for and got a little experience with both a stretchy wrap and buckle carrier. But, even with that, it was still challenging the first time I used it with my new baby!
So often, parents are told that as soon as their baby or young toddler begins walking, they should no longer be babywearing. Honestly, many parents are told that long before their babies even get close to the walking stage!
But, babywearing provides so many benefits to both the child and wearer. From something as simple as convenience, to providing the contact infants need while also building your parent brain.
Cuddles, being held, and affectionate touches have been shown to be critical in building a baby's stress and emotional system. Do you have to use a baby carrier to do this? Of course not! However, it can be a wonderful tool that allows you a hands-free mode to provide those benefits.
The infant brain doesn't finish developing until around 3 years of age and, the need for closeness doesn't end there.
Finding the tools that allow you to provide that in a way that is beneficial to both of you is so incredible. Whether that means babywearing or finding time to cuddle on the couch or hang out and play on the floor together- giving our children that connection in a way that works for both is amazing!
