When I was six years old, I was fascinated by everything foreign.

The Soviet Union had just collapsed. Most families were struggling. Traveling abroad was impossible.

But I we had a TV. And that’s how I learned there was a different world outside mine.

I remember my mom saving money for months to buy me a Barbie, the doll I was dreaming about. It wasn’t just a toy. It felt like a piece of that different world.

Anything American, anything from abroad, felt magical and unreachable at the same time.

Looking back, I think that fascination played a huge role in my desire to learn English. It wasn’t just a subject, it became my favorite one. That curiosity, that passion, kept leading me forward.

I’m glad I listened to my gut. And no matter where you are right now, keep listening to yours. It knows where to guide you ❤️
