Jamestown wasn't the heroic "founding" story they taught you in school—it was a survival nightmare run by people who didn't know what they were doing.
I just updated the timestamps and description for the Henry Spelman story. If you haven't seen it yet, it’s about an English kid who was essentially traded like a piece of property to Chief Powhatan. He ended up living, eating, and fighting alongside the natives because it was a better deal than starving to death with the English "gentlemen."
I’ve broken the video down into chapters so you can jump straight to the gritty details:
The 1609 "Trade" for a town.
Why the natives played football (and the men didn't).
How he survived the Starving Time.

Angry and Negative History Project

On this day, in January, in the year 1676 in early America. It was some violent times. Doeg Indians took hogs from a Virginia plantation owned by Thomas Mathew, claiming he had not paid for goods they provided. Settlers retaliated, killing several Doegs.
In the heat of the conflict, Virginia and Maryland militias pursued the Doegs but mistakenly attacked a camp of Susquehannocks—a powerful tribe that had historically been at peace with the colonies.
The Susquehannocks, seeking safety, moved into an abandoned fort in Maryland. A combined force of 1,000 Maryland and Virginia militia (led partly by John Washington, George Washington's great-grandfather) besieged the fort for six weeks.
During the siege, five Susquehannock chiefs (sachems) came out under a flag of truce to negotiate peace. Without provocation, the colonial militia murdered them.
Despite the massacre and starvation within the fort, approximately 100 warriors and their families escaped at night, killing several sleeping guards as they fled into the Virginia wilderness.
In Iroquoian cultures like the Susquehannock, the death of loved ones (especially leaders) caused intense grief and rage that could only be satisfied through "mourning wars"—raids intended to either capture new members for adoption or execute enemies to dissipate the community's grief.
The Susquehannock were specifically furious because they had been "professed friends" of the English for decades. They viewed the unprovoked murder of their chiefs during a parley as a supreme act of treachery.
After escaping the siege, they moved through the Virginia frontier, launching "measured counterattacks" in January 1676. They killed 36 settlers in Virginia—the exact number of warriors they had lost during the siege and escape—to settle the score.
This retaliation caused widespread panic among the frontier settlers, who felt Governor Berkeley was failing to protect them, leading Nathaniel Bacon to eventually form his own unauthorized militia.

Christopher Columbus had relations with this woman Beatriz de Bobadilla. Do you think they had sex on the shore line? Did she shave her legs? Did Christopher Columbus go down on her? Since she was related to the Bobadilla who arrested Columbus, do you think she got mad at Christopher after they slept together or she got jealous or something and had her relative arrest Columbus? Do you think that afterwards Christopher Columbus regretted knowing her?

Christopher Columbus is a hero for opening the doors for other people of the world to live in the now "multicultural" Americas. Some people hate that fact and hate America for it, but the majority of those with jobs won't move away. Should we donate money and one way plane tickets to help the hateful ones leave America? What's your opinion?

I should wait until I get at least a thousand views on my last episode to get incentive to make another episode. I am focusing on another old channel now, so I get to wait. Nobody cares.
